Well I drove the Mustang home today, what a difference! I love my AOD! When it slipped into OD for the first time, it was Like sweet victory! It shifts nice and the kick down worked absolutely perfectly! The rack and pinion is awesome even with-out the proper alignment! It doesn’t drift, the wheel is not the least bit sloppy, and it now kicks ass on grooved pavement. The new 50 series Flowmasters rock!

I’m just a happy camper, even if the power steering pump is groaning.

So I’m happy with myself that I did all this in a week and no real problems.

Later!

man that's cool :nice: i can't wait to get a rack and the aod i have in the car. what gears are you running right now? i've got 3.25's right now, i was planning on 3.70's for when i get the aod in, but i keep thinking that i might like it just fine with 3.25's. also there is a guy on the VMF that has some machine work time he needs to fill and i told him about your strut rod brackets, if you're interested i'll post the link. let me know. congrats on getting averything done, you need to make a trip to texas soon so i can get a ride in it :D

Nice work. You did a bunch of stuff in a quick time. Isn't it nice to have that extra OD gear... :nice: The r&p sounds nice, but I've still got issues with it. Let us know how real life driving and the worsened turning radius really are. I getting pretty envious myself here. I wish I'd gone with Flowmasters from the get go, now it'll be another thing to upgrade when I get cash.

Again, nice work! :nice:

Sounds great? Did you do anything to beef up the AOD, add a shift kit, or is it plain stock?

Yep, I already experienced the small radius. It will take a little getting used to. I am a good person to test this on because I end up in a-lot of tight spots in my daily commute living in SoCal.

Thanks for the comments and I’ll get the pics up after this weekend. Thank you guys, especially Bob for the help! I have a small leak on the dipstick I’m gonna take care of, also install the cooler this weekend at the hobby shop. I’ll have it on the rack for sure. I snap a ton of pics and build a real-life AOD swap page on my site for you soon to be AOD guys.

Brian I’m running 3.00's right now. I have 3.25's to put in, but I think I’m gonna go to 3.50's.

65fastback2+2, sorry buddy, I’ve had this AOD for a long time too, had the rack since last October. It sucks seeing parts on the shelf calling your name. when it gets time for your fun, I’ll be glad to help if you need it.

its a stock AOD. i might add a shift kit in the future, but for now i think it'll remain stock for a while.

That was the set-up on Chepie! I put in a 3.55 pumpkin in the 8", and what pick-up! Once she dropped into OD, Highway cruiser! The AOD is fun, as you can adjust the shifts!

Now drive that Pony!

what OD tranny do you guys use? How bad is the swap? (Sorry for the highjack)

any AOD up to 1993 that isnt electronic, the one that only uses the TV cable for the kickdown. Then you need a new flywheel, crossmember, torque convertor, tv cable, tv cable-to-carb connector. An AOD is the same size as a C6.
