First off....

You gotta buy a 5.0.. Once you do that, then you can ask for opinions like the ones you are asking for now.

Now that's a good idea...... Nothing like doing lines off a hookers ass.

well lots of opinions here. There is nothing wrong with a bit of off the wall humour to lighten things up and sometimes things need to be blunt. On the other hand we do need to cut people with what we perceive to be unrealistic goals a little slack too. Most of us have all spent hours staring at parts in magazines that we will one day afford too...............I'm 30 yrs old, married with 3 kids. I have owned 4 foxbodies over the past 10 years and my current car 5 years. Finally this year I was able to not only drop in both my 331 and paxton blower. If you asked me a couple years ago if I thought I was gonna be able to afford just a new clutch quadrant etc etc I would have said no.

So anything is possible. Do I think that a turbo 4000 dollar car is reasonable? Not really. But can it be done? sure, so let the guy dream and answer his questions. After all he is only 17........

I simply want opinions on different combos. just to see whats best. Im not saying im going to do it for sure. I want to see whats possible and whats not. i know a $4k turbo install is possible. But I wanted to see what I would need to accomplish it etc. The turbo setup would be my ideal setup but if I cant, then im screwed. and i did think of the hooker idea but my gf didnt agree with it.

reading through any of the links on the first page will give you an idea of what is possible and what may be the best set up for you. Ideally the JY turbo IMHO is the best bet for the budget minded mechanic that is still running a stock engine. seriously do some research on your own instead of asking everyone else to do it for you.

you have to remember a used 5.0. is going to probally need some money besides a turbo project. so figure the cost of the car, money in repairs it needs, the turbo kit and your talking some beans. not to mention the money needed after to keep a turbo car running assuming the 5.0. is healthy from the start.

I would go stykthyn's route...blow, hookers & collect foodstamps

lol thanks for the encouragement. That pushes me harder to do it. I dont want a top dog racer. I want a turbo fox that will get the job done. A fun car to drive. I know itll be a PITA to install and ill have headaches about it, and criticism everywhere, and how i shouldnt by junkyard parts etc. but i personally believe thats all part of the fun. Yeah, I know ill need a tune and all that. The transmission, when it blows up, thenn ill try to get another one at the junkyard, and a clutch also. But oh well. And yeah, Ive had alot of plans, but things didnt end up going how it was planned so i had to change my mind. The SVO idea, down the drain. Why? the SVO I wanted has a cracked head. the other ones are too far. My 4 cyl was gonna go turbo, but instead, Im selling it and its cheaper to turbo a 5.0 and all the parts in general are way cheaper than for the 2.3 and are easier to find. Now Im trying to decide how i can turbo a fox with the money Ill have. Its a challenge and many people say impossoble, but I say its very possible.

damn, you dont get it. you do NOT have 4k(plus what you sell 4 banger for ) to spend on a turbo setup. what are you getting a fox mustang 5.0 for free??????? AFTER you buy a 5.0 stang THEN you can post on here and say what you budget it is. till then gtfo out and start looking for a fox!!!!!! then come back and post pics dont buy a pos either thinking oh ill do paint on it too! getting a nice hatch or coupe or vert. whatever you want. something with decent miles. and go from there. and if you want boost. just buy an S-trim. the power you will get out of that will be MORE then enough to get you in about of trouble.

like the drfiting in the parking lot with the 4 banger, atleast he didnt off road the thing!

mike, im your age. so i know what your thinking, "ill prove them wrong" no you wont. they know there **** so listen and it will save you alot of money. and you can hardly count selling crap on ebay a job. till you have a steady pay check each week or every two week you should be focusing on just getting a 5.0 again, and driving it. what you should do is ask WHO has built a turbo stang and ask them how much that have spent on it, just to get it to the dyno for tunning. i can bet that its at min. 4k. just to that point. and considering that 4k is inculding purchancing a car.

things that will also need beefed up to handle say 400hp.

transmission. i can bet you would kill 3rd within 2 weeks.
clutch. stock clutch wont hold that power past 2,000 rpms if even that.
tires, you will need to run drag radials now. and drag radials dont like rain at all.
plus tons of other **** that im not going to waste my time listing since your not listening anyways.

And needing money now and deciding to accept payments is just a anyway.

Forget the turbo idea dude. I was reserching it alot with my last Fox. $4000 for the car, $2900 for the turbo kit, $1200 for inter cooler, $1150 for fuel system (on the cheap), $600 K-memeber, $1600 built TKO 600, $450 DFX clutch, $1000 for rear and axles (on the cheap).

So there is $8000 not including the car or tires/brakes.

You want turbo power, cheap and reliable? FInd an older WRX or a 98-99 Audi A6 2.7T. The Audi will be under $5000 and the parts for the most part are cheaper then they are for Stangs. (not all parts but suprisingly alot of them are cheaper)
