I just bought a 91 LX convertible. It was originally a automatic but the guy I bought it from converted it to a 5 speed.

Here is the problem.

I start the car and it starts right up with no problem. Does idle rough sometimes and sometimes dies at lights but for the most part low rpm driveability is not bad.

But, let the rpms build to 2800-3000rpm and the car suddenly bogs down badly and car loses power and suffers a drastic loss of power until I let off gas and/or rpm's drop to under 2600rpm's. Sometimes the check engine light comes on.

I have had the fuel pump checked and it is putting out IIRC 32lbs pressure.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The same guy is also selling me a 88 Turbo Coupe motor complete with engine harness, computer and wiring harness to the computer. The guy is also giving me a set of the 16" rims (Snowflake pattern?) for free.

i am betting that when he did the tranny swap he did not plug up the vac lines that run to the transmission. I would trace all the lines from the vac tree and make sure the one for the transmission is removed and capped.
