Welllllll World Ford Challenge 9 is finally over with and I get a break for a few weeks before I start the next step of the project.

I ran a test and tune on thursday in St louis and busted the headgasket at the end of the very first run. When the head gasket blew it pressurized the cooling system, busted the radiator and a bypass hose. This in turn sent me into a pretty serious slide across the finish line where I still trapped over 104. Hopefully stinger will be able to get a screen shot from the video he took. However I did get it back together to run more the next day.

After stupid things happening with the car and the track being packed I didn't get to make even 1 pass with the car in "kill" mode. So here's the best times from 7 timeslips.

Best Reaction Time: .007 I had 2 of these back to back
Best 60ft: 1.699 Best ever with a 2.3
Best 330: 4.947 " "
Best 1/8: 7.631 " "
Best 1/8 MPH: 90.92 " "
best 1/4: 11.98 Best run of my life
best MPH: 108.33 Highest trap ever.

Just by the numbers and comparing the different runs we figured if I could go about 11.6 just with a clean run. This is all with a T5 as well. I talked to several guys that say an automatic would pick me up a bunch too, so you can guess my next move.

It was also great fun to hang around my trailer and watch people walk or drive by and slide to a stop to look at it. Plus stinger got to explain alot of the set-up to people looking to do the same. Since everything done to this car is strictly Stinger bolt-ons on a junk yard engine.

Now for the pics.

Yes it was a great time, wish it could have run full tilt, but was very respectable for what it is!!

What automatic are you looking into using? It sounds like Stinger's business could really take off!
Glad to see some SWEET TIMES!

I'm going to use a Full manual reverse pattern C4 with a trans brake. I built it for a school project and used it behind the V8. I tried the auto thing once before and it woud leave hard but wasn't as fun on the street. No wI'm just looking to knock down some times and increase the predictibility.

ACSpony. This is definitely a set-up anybody can do. I have alot less in this than I had in the V8.

That's good to know 351, it definitely seems like a huge amount of power being made with some pretty standard turbo components. Does stinger offer it as a kit? Might be an idea provided the customer has a donor motor to be able to snag wiring/piping/exhaust parts in a package

I'm sure he can work out a package for the piping exhaust and any other needed items.
As for the wiring, I think at one time he offered something where you send him your harness and he would get it ready for the swap, but in reality its about an hour procedure even for a rookie.

I musta missed that pass where you pulled the front wheels, I'm guessing that was the 11.98? Sucks that ET2 was so packed though, but ah well...maybe next year eh?

Actually it did it nearly every time Except for the 11.98 and the 12.5 I ran on the last run.

I guess if you get used to watching huber then you dont think mines pulling the wheels.

I think I'm going to go the boport and undecided about a cam, I may do a custom grind if I take the time to sit down and figure out what I what.
With what you gotten so far I would say shoot for the low 12's. I've learned its going to take a pretty serious car to run that fast. I'm definitely not saying it cant happen it may just take a little extra umph to leave hard enough to run that quick.

Also another "set back" maybe the 5spd. I'm absolutely convinced in the auto and I haven't even switched yet.
If you're going to be driving it alot the 5spd is more fun.

As for gearing I'm 3.55 with a 28x 11.50 slicks. Even geared that high I'm still shifting about 25 feet out so I could probably benefit from 3.27s for where I'm at now. 3.55 should be perfect for the C4 to run the 1/8th or 1/4th.

4.10 wouldn't be bad with a C4 except for driving on the highway.

I have sent a few links out to your pic of a 2.3L turbo pulling wheels off ground. Excellent work. Looks like your making enough power to warrant adding some body stiffening.

A few questions...

Since your going with a manual valve body you dont have to worry about getting the manual to shift properly with the turbo correct?

I want to run a T3 turbo on my 81 T-top 200I6 motor with a C4 but wasnt sure how the turbo and automatic will work together.

He's got plenty of chassis stiffening...full cage and subframes. It's the suspension flexing, not the car.

yeha I do have a cage and full length weld in subframes. The car definitely doesn't give. The car rolled in that pic because the pass side air bag was let down just a shade too much.
