Identifying motor

I bought an 87 GT from a guy who told me it had a new crate motor. It was put in by the guy he bought it from the year before. He didn't know anything about the engine. It has a healthy cam but that's all I know.

Is there some way for me to identify this and any mods? I think it's stock but it is much faster than the other 5.0's I drove. It has factory headers and H pipe. That's all I know.

without ripping it apart it should be pretty easy to tell what intake is on it, the size of the injectors by looking at the color, and if it has aluminum heads (and you can possibly see the brand).

That's a tough one to say. It could be a RHO, or any FRPP crate engine, or any engine from any crate engine builder.

Do you have the name of the guy that swapped the engine? If not, maybe the guy you bought it from or the DMV can help you find him. If you can find him, ask him what he did. He'll probably remember something about what he put in there.
