What makes a "kit worth $1800-$3000+? I see Vortech superchargers for sale for $550 on ebay. What's in the kit? Just more hoses and pulleys? Thanks.

Also, any recommendation on which supercharger to buy or why you bought the one you have? Thx.

Also, can you use a 89-93 kit on our cars?

The kits have all the brackets and hardware needed to install it. The others are probably just the raw unit. You can buy the raw unit and hope to find the brackets for it somewhere, keyword being HOPE.

And I don't think the foxs kits work for out cars.

I've been thinking of a centrifugal charger since the KB's are too expensive. I think the general approval would go to Vortech, Paxton, or Procharger. I'm leaning toward Vortech since they are the least expensive of the bunch.

you mean a used head unit which you dont even know f it will shatter the first time you dyno it?

a new head unit alone from vortech is 2100

bracketry and pullies is almost 500

I personally do not want a full kit because i DO NOT want to run an FMU with tiny injectors. I woudl run 42s and a high pressure 255 pump

the 87-93 have different acc from our cars and the brackets will not fit. the reason for a kit when you buy anything is the idea to save money and hassle when looking for mix and match parts.

Makes sense. Reason I ask is ..I had another car that I Turbo'd once. I paid a guy $700 to install the kit. I later learned my lesson that I could have done it myself if I had asked around. The manifold was specific to the car but just about any turbo could have worked if adjusted correctly.

Another example, I did save some money finding out that intercooler "kits" were like $1200 for that same car. You don't need to buy expensive kits for intercoolers. Any intercooler will work on any car as long as it mounts ok.

The only other part to an intercooler system is the hoses which can be made or modified to fit. By doing it this way, I saved $900!! So I was wondering if the mustang kits were just glorified generic kits. But sounds like the brackets are vehicle specific so "X" on that idea.

i dont mean to frighten you, a used kit is a very easy way to get into a kit. as long as teh preson hasnt been running a 2.88 pulley for yeas and not keeping it oiled well you should be fine.

kits have brackets blower pulleys, fuel pump, injectors, fmu, intake pipe with bosch bypass, SC intake pipe (should upgrade to AFM powerpipe) blower belt oil lines, and tapping stuff.

I am just not sure what you are looking at that is 550 on ebay.

a vortech is efficient and you dont need an intercooler

That ebay was a head unit only it looks like and like you said, how do I know it wasn't abused.

As to a good used kit, I would have to find one. But I still don't know if it was treated right..

Maybe I good buy a cheap used kit but with a bad head unit. Then I would have all the parts and maybe buy the head unit new? I wonder if you can buy just a new head unit.

What is the difference between the powerdyne 6 and 9 psi kit? Is it the pulley included or are you stuck with 6psi max if you buy the 6psi kit? Thx.
