If I just wanted to cut the fuel lines and remove this POS and put something else in its place, what would you recommend?

My biggest dislike is that it's a pain in the butt to replace. The fitting are screw in fitting and it's mounted on the frame rail. They weld themselves with corrosion during a normal change interval.

Ah. I'd recommend picking up a can of nickle anti-sieze then. In that application you'd want to use it lightly enough that it wont get into the fuel stream, but i can guarantee it'll come loose easily next time. We use it on all of our hardware that is prone to corrosion, and it makes the difference between a routine job and a total cat-tastrophy.
Just my .02, I don't think I'd want to cut those lines and scab in hose down there to install an inline.
I usually replace them once a year in the warmer months (sometimes not). Not this year though. It's stuck on there good and I'm finished playing with it.
I will take some satisfaction when I cut this a-hole off put something else on.
Maybe something with a removable filter bowl and replaceable element.

I can tell you work on aircraft.. Lol. I could tell to how to get it off if you'd like.. And then you could just use the tech I mentioned and you'd never have problems with it again...
OR, you could be a hammerhead and chop up your fuel system.

Go find a quality penetrating oil. Kano kroil is the best I've seen. There is also S'OK.. and pb blaster makes one too. Choose them in that order respectively. Hose it down and let the oil creep into the threads. Be patient. If you have time do this a couple days in a row. Then get an object with some mass you can slip behind the hex on the fitting and use as an anvil. Get the heaviest hammer you can swing in there and smack the fittings. You may have to hit each flat all the way around if it's really stuck. This impacts the threads and crushes the corrosion so it will break loose. If you can't get a hammer on it, find a drift or the largest punch you can find to reach it. Remember the more mass your drift has, the more energy it transfers. Hitting it with an 1/8 punch is pointless. Another trick is heat, but you can't use that here. It sounds elementary, and it is... But work it does. We get stuck bolts every day, and cutting them off just isn't an option. Good luck.
