Well I raced a stock SS Camaro and I didn’t do all that bad. I was dead even with him in first and then I shifted to second and pulled on him then slowly he pulled back. Gradually he kept pulling but only very slowly. WHAT do I need to beat a stock SS. I don’t know what mods other than what I have will make that happen. I don’t have the money for s/c and I don’t like to use the spray. They are N/A and that is the way I want to beat them. Any help would be great.

Personally though, with your modifications you should NOT be runninga 13.9. So I would say work on your driving and you might be able to beat them with what you have already
defiantly cams and long tubes and a ta or some sort of handheld tuner so you can bump timing and all. that should help a bunch, then maybe start with some weight loss, rear seat delete and other little things.

remove trunk interior, back seat, and put battery in the trunk, gears:3.73's for manual 4.10 for automatic, Tuned Chip then 91+ octane, Steeda Tri-ax shifter, CAI, TB, Plenum, Pullies, Copper Spark Plugs, MSD Ignition, Cams, Port intake and exhaust, Headers,O/R X-pipe, Catback, (long tubes for more power), Synthetic oil if you have less than 60k miles...

Just a note, I think some of you guys need to read my signature. And the track time I have posted was on a horrible night and it was the only time I have ever been to the track. I spun all the way through first and half way through second. But I usually do better on the street. Don’t know why I did that bad at the track, maybe it was because I had never been and I expected to have great traction and I didn’t. But thanks for all the help.

You can go with gears, LT, cams and all that other bolt on crap which admittedly will help you in a quarter of a mile, from a dead stop, but on the street where you may not get lucky enough to start from a dead stop, or if the race happens to exceed a quarter of a mile, you just aren't making enough HP to pull them up top where you need to. If you really want to put a hurting to an SS, you're going to have to add some real power. And that's only going to come in the way of Forced induction or Nitrous. Sorry dude, but you're probably going to have to bite the bullet on this one.

Well I ride with D'sdoubleogt every friday night as a passenger of course cuz I don't have my mustang yet....however, he's right about the track conditions at IRP for tuesday street legals. They sucked, I saw 03 cobras putting up mid 13's, and these were guys we knew know how to drive them. SS's are tough, and they pull only at the slightest bit when we've raced against them. One guy says 4.30's?????? We lose traction sometimes in 3rd with the 3.73's and my fat ass riding shotgun! And as for the tires, they're nitto 555's not sure of the size but they're not skinny by any means.....so just thought i'd clear some things up....

Well if your riding with him THATS THE PROBLEM LOL. Dont ride along when he races, he would have beat or tied that SS otherwise. Forget all that "4.10s or 4.30s" BS, that wont help you, they will still pass you at around 70ish. And since you have a mid pipe already you prolly dont want to buy LTs and ANOTHER midpipe. ALL you need is some VT stg 1 cams. that with a tune will have you pulling SSs with ease. Even a lid and catback SS would be about an even run. On teh LS1s lid adds 10HP and CB adds 10HP. Your cams add 33RWHP with a dyno tune. 22 with no tune. You can just throw them in and run it on a dyno to check A/F (no tune) and you will beat that SS even with your friend in the car. have fun...I know i will LOL.

if your traction is that bad then you have already answered your question. if you are spinning, then you are already losing at the part of the drag that the mustang does well against the camaro. Get some steeda aluminum control arms, pull the back wheels off, go with a 17X10.5 and put on 315s, or at the very least get some 17x9s and 275s.
