Install a cam?

Well I don't know about using old lifters on a different cam, I personally have never tried that, I've always sprung for new lifters on a used (flat tappet) cam, I've been taught that the lifters wear-in with the lobe they've been riding on, not necessarily the bore they're in.

if your installing a new cam. id jsut spring for the extra money and get a new set of lifters. also make sure your valvetrain is up to the task. ie springs retainers etc.

Whenever I have a cam out for any reason, if the old stuff has any miles on it at all I spring for a new chan and new lifters. They are cheap enough and hard enough to get at that I don't want to go back in for a while.

You guys are misunderstanding me HAHAHA. I am talking about if it is a the cam with its own set of lifters. Never reuse them on anything else it just isn't worth it. Like my cam Ronstang broke it in for me and labeled all the new lifters to their bores that they were in. I just slipped it in dropped the lifters in their bores and was good to go. Of course I had to grind the Dowel pin a little bit a 2:00 in the morning though.
