It appears they go where the current hood bumpers are now. I`m curious if when I stick them in the holes where the hood bumpers are now, it looks like they`ll be leaning forward a little. With the hood closing from the direction it swings down from, I`m not sure it`ll work that way, anyway thats done this have any suggestions? I obviously need to do this right the first time being as once I drill the hood...things could get ugly.

yea the hood pins go were the hood bumpers were, the hood bumpers
now go in the first fender bolt hole, after you bolt the pins in the bumper brackets
you can bend the brackets a little if you have to by using the pins as leaverage.
put a dab of wet paint or any thing that will show color on the tip of the pins
so when you close the hood the pins will mark the bottom of hood
when you close it down the center of the mark is were you drill. i always drill
the hole 3/4 " start with an 1/8" bit first, when the hood is shut all the way down position your pin plate
drill and screw or pop rivit , if you use scwers drill a pilot hole first the heads may
snap of the screws if you dont. just ask my buddy

If your plates are the common low cost chrome type, they will look funky in no time. I bought a set of polished stainless plates from Tony Branda and they are the t*ts for wear, they look just like the chrome ones, plus they can be re-polished when needed. Not cheap, but I won't be replacing them again for a long, long, time.

Although not a great pic of the plates, these photos show the location that the pins will be when you use the hood bumper mounting location:

I too bent the brackets more upright using the pins.

I`m glad I got the Branda plates, sounds like I got lucky, thanks guys.
did you ever that hood mounted? how does the trunk lid and
end caps look. thinking about doing the trunk lid and end caps
on mine .post some pics so i can see how they look. noticed
stang-aholics has a 65-66 tail panel that uses the 68 lights and the
71-73 pop open cap ,may be interesting

Yes hood is mounted, looks great. Stangoholics really does sell quality products that fit well. The end caps were almost a bolt on deal, just a skim coat of bondo and they fit perfect. I included a pic of the inside of the trunk lid so you can see the quality of the product, and I also set one of my taillights in the hole so you could see it too.
