Alright I need some help here, my odometer on my instrument cluster quit working and I took it to ford and asked what was wrong with it and after 3 hours and 40 bucks (basturds) they told me it was shot, i was pissed and left cuz it cost me 40 bucks... Anyway, I need an instrument cluster that will work for a 1998 v6 3.8, 120 mph, I need the mileage to be under 90 thousand, if anyone has one.

Another question I have is will a v6 1999 instrument cluster (with the digital odometer) work for my 98? What years can I get an instrument cluster from that that will work in my 98? I am guessing 94-98 v6 3.8 right? Please write back and anything will help, Thanx!

Well everything works but the odometer and the one next to it (the travel odometer that shows like trips that is resetable), and the guys at ford told me I need a new instrument cluster, I guess they checked the fuses? The other gauges work fine and the speed and rmp meters work fine too, its just the odometer... Let me know if there is anything I can try or do. Thanx!

So does a 99 cluster work for the a 98 model?

all i can think of is to replace it, i'm not sure how the odometer works on your car. Replaement shouldn't be too hard or too expensive, but you know how it goes, so don't take my word for it. For example a center air vent nozzle costs $75 from ford... lol

If i find an instrument cluster off another 1998 v6 3.8 and replace mine with it should it work if that was the problem or are the computers different for each car? Btw I have taken the cluster out, it isn't difficult or anything its just I am stupped at what to do....

the clusters are relatively easy to change out. I don't think there is a problem with your computer if you change em out, but the 94-98 models use a mechanical odometer. A 99+ wouldn't work unless you get the necessary wiring, etc (i think)

When I had my gauges out, it's all a simple disassembly and install.
