Only to clarify for my sake, are you still running the car with no vacuum source to the MAP sensor?

If you are, then stop and install the proper vacuum hose ASAP. The MAP sensor measures manifold vacuum to tell the computer how much load the engine is under. It's one of the primary inputs the computer uses to calculate the propper amount of fuel.

Basically, with no vacuum source, the computer thinks you are at WOT all the time. This will explain the black smoke you are seeing.

Get the proper hose, install it, and reset the computer. Then you can troubleshoot and solve any additional issues.

Edit: Just saw your last comment. Running a speed density car without the MAP will most definitely cause the engine to run very rich at all times, i.e. blackish/grey smoke. Get that MAP hooked up, take it for a spin, and I think you'll be very surprised.

ok here is the update gang,
got the vacuum to the MAP going and it eliminated the smoke.... i can rev it up and no smoke,i took it out on the street and i cant get no traction at all, and i did see black something but it could have been rubber, cause i see some tracks on the street.....
the idle was corrected with the MAP connected, but every once in a while as soon as im satisfied it will weird out... but only like a 100 or 150 rpm lope.......instead of the old 500+rpms.... the good news is i dont think i have a coolant leak, i sprayed ether and no idle change(well about 2mins after i stop spraying the idle fizzled again, but thats its new thing)
it seems like its doing it less, and only does it after turning off.....

my timing could still be off...im a little confused as of what to do. i take out the connector start it up and set it to 12ish, then i shut off put the connector in start it back up to see no change....... and it has a really hard time starting, like a dieing battery but my battery is fine 13volts and im getting a charge while running( a concern that the UD pulleys are ok)

i think i need to research how to do timing a little more, and check all vacuum lines
which i already replaced one which had a little crack in it and there was no change in the problem.......

so right now the car is making progress, i still have to pull of the upper to retorque the lower, so i will do more vacuum hunting and a new upper to lower gasket....

ps. not my car but same exact idle jump, except mine will correct itself and idle good for minutes then do this again:

it might be your IAC. cuz mine isnt working. i disconnected it for now. and im getting a surge of 50-100 rpm. it only goes for about the first two minutes of driving. basically, when it warms up it runs good. and yeah, retorque your intake and check it the timing is ok.

and here you go. just in case you need some pointers.

Checking, Setting and Bumping up your Mustang's Timing

Rock on. I was assuming this whole time you'd already made sure the MAP had a vacuum line running to it. Good that you got it goin' well again.

Great news!! Glad the car is running better. Sounds like its running really good, too.

As far the idle goes, have you checked your TPS voltage since adjusting the idle screw? I can't remember the range (0.6V - 1.2V), but if its outside that range you'll have idle problems.

Time to see the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes] for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.
