Intercooler Install Pic's

&*$%&*$^%&*$. I hate that. Your motor is starting to sound like mine. It will run great one day, but **** the next. I'm really starting to think either my block or heads are warped. I keep blowing my passenger headgasket. I wish I had the money for the new Dart shortblock, but school kinda gets in the way of that. Good luck gettin that thing tamed.

You can't go and blow the thing up before I get a test drive!

Just wait till it gets to the point my stock motor was at.. blowing oil all over the engine bay, blowing oil out at wot something horrible, But it still idled and ran fine, lol.. Made hellish power too.. and I was missing a few piston ring lands!

my rings are probably shot right about now. I'm going to give james a call tomorrow and see how much his uncle wants to sell his old block/internals for. I havent given up on this one just yet, and if I do i'd sell it just to fund for another one.

I pulled some plugs on the drivers side, the first one looked almost brand new which suprised me, the 2nd one had the ceramic part broken off so it slid up and down that little rod in the center... never seen that happen before, and the 3rd one was completly black. I think some fuel is getting forced past my rings, but hey.. at least it isnt coolant yet. After I changed the plugs that were bad it idled and revved better, but when I took it for a drive it ran like **** again. I'm going to reset the timing tomorrow at work just to double check its where its supposed to be at then go from there.

its only plastic and styrofoam anyway what good is it lol

And he says its going back on looks like its sticking out real far in them pics though don't it

I meant the steel front bumper. A little front end bump would mess up alot of things the way it is now.

Looking great zach, keep up the good work man :nice:

If it comes to it, whats the new motor gonna look like?

if it comes to a new engine, I might just keep the stock block since there probably isnt anything wrong with it, and just upgrade to a 331 or 347 stroker kit for it. There are some people making decent power on a stock block, and since its my DD car, I dont need 700+ to the wheels.

NOOOO Zach, if it is the time for a new motor. You gotta do a block man. I know its expensive and we're both the same age so I know you probably don't have a huge income either. But you know if you go get another stock block, you're gonna get it running great and boostin great and all of a sudden, after a couple months of that, you want more. But you're already close to the 500rwhp limit. You would be stuck because you put money back into a stock block. I say hold this one out as long as you can and save for a good block. Something decent atleast. You'll be better off in the long run.

what would be a good block for 700-800hp? I havent done any research on this stuff yet. If it comes done to that, I could get a student loan since I'm in college. That way the intrest would be real low and I wont have to start paying it until I graduate.

Theres the attitude. High hp guys swear by Dart blocks and Motorsport R302. Both of those are around $1500-1900. Its known that the Darts don't need nearly as much machining as the R302. Now i know there are some blocks that are still strong that are about a step down from those 2. I can't quite remember what block Mike has. But I don't remember it being a dart or r302. There is a bunch of block info over at TM.com. Just search it. Thats where I learned all about blocks.

But if you wanted to do a 331/347. Check out ADPerformmance.com. Thats where I'll be getting my shortblock. He puts together a stroker motor using a Dart block rated for 1200hp. Eagle internals, or anything you want. Assembles it and everything. Its a great hassle free shortblock. I'll be ordering the 331 package from them. Heres a link.http://www.adperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75_138&products_id=248 But you can put whatever you want in it, its a complete custom shortblock. And they garuntee to balance the crank to within one gram. Thats damn good. Check out that link for more info.
