So I have been searching and don't see any good threads on interior insulation to help with hot feet. My searches may not be that well formed but looking for direction based on experience. Recently bought a 91 gt that is low miles but needs odds and ins. Stock except for TB and pulleys. The car will burn your feet off. I used to have a 90 lx and it was hot but nothing like this. I did discover the previous owner had left the lower shift boot off by accident when replacing clutch so that is a big source of my heat in the upper leg area.

What cost efficient products have you all used to insulate the firewall area. I see some are 60 for a 2x2 sheet which seems really expensive.

Thanks in advance. I am dreading pulling the center console to get this boot installed. Lol

Your car could be running lean....making more heat in the exhaust. I had a car that would turn the headers red hot because the cat was clogged....a friend of mine had the same issue because is car was running lean. Make sure it isn't something mechanical first.

do you have LT headers? That will add to interior heat. A cheap way to battle that is spray some automotive undercoating under the car. Home Depot and Lowes also sell HVAC stick and peel insulation that comes in a roll for about $20. You can cut and lay it under your carpet and insulation right on the interior floorpan.

Pretty common issue actuslly. Mine gets warm, but not searing hot. Is your carpet original? Does it have the insulation under it?

My 2003 GT did this brand new. Hot 90 degree day stuck in traffic....you'd feel the heat on the trans tunnel.

Yeah I am sure it's normal especially once I get the lower shift boot installed. It's all stock and part of it may be me being spoiled driving new trucks for the last 15 years. But I didn't think about Lowe's or home depot actually so that gets me in the right direction. Thanks a bunch!

My son and I have been working on his 92 SSP interior. We wanted the car to be cooler and more quiet. I used Fatmat on the metal surfaces to muffle the drum sound, and over the top of that I put a layer of Car Insulation. I'm looking forward to seeing how much improvement will be gained.

Nice. I know a lot of guys are concerned with extra weight but I am like you when it comes to drive quality. I want to build a bad ass daily driver that handles well. Please let me know how it turns out on interior sound.

Will do, I will say that's a major plus with the Car Insulation, it's very lightweight. I can say the roof of the car use to sound like a drum, but after some strategically placed Fatmat and a layer of the CI, it's a night and day difference. Should have it put back together soon, I'll report back with the results.

Well I got the lower shift boot put in this morning. The previous owner was less than good about putting things back together on the interior correctly. A lot of screws missing that I had to replace to get things back to being "tight". I can say it was a cooler day at 85 here today but the difference was night and day with it installed. I have some other items that will need my attention before interior upgrades such as replacement suspension components and some rear end clicking noise.
