Is it ok to run open header? Will I hurt anything??(longtubes)

Shop closed early today without telling me so I am out of an x-pipe(getting 02 bung welded on) for today. I need a ride to school so I was thinking of takeing off my cat-back and just driving around open header for tonight. Is that ok or sohould I hitch a ride? They are longtubes to the 02s are right there at the end of the collector.

are you saying the o2s are in the end of the header? then its fine. just freakin loud

as far as loss of low end. still havent convinced me. its velocity not back pressure that makes torque. also kinda irrelevant if you just asking if you can "get away" with it for a day or two.

Then you need to read up more. Ask any NMRA racer thats required to run full exhaust to the rear axle about his dyno graphs with open headers compared to full exhaust (Factory stock, Pure street, etc). There was also a 5.0 Mustang article on this as well, I'll look it up for you.

Also the older Trans AM series Mustangs that Tommy Kendal was racing went to smaller mufflers because the increased back pressure broadened their torque curve. I know because my Dad spoke with the crew chief.

I went with an open mac catted H on my 94 cobra and holly F'ing $****....I did a few drive bys with my younger brother filming and my mom was walking the dog in the back yard and she wanted to choke me!! hahha...Ill see if I can post the vid
