I've been in this hobby for some time and darn if I don't have a weakness for stock one owner "drop top" 5 speeds...but this 1990 LX has some pretty bad shock tower rot. Runs great, looks o.k but its got rust, most likely more then I can see.....on the other hand its hard to pass on a running, driving stock 5 speed for the price of a 60 inch T.V. I've never fixed rust in the shock towers. Thanks for an ideas

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I would pass. That's a parts car. If it's got rust that bad in the shock towers I can almost promise the inner fenders are toast as well as behind the rear seat going to the trunk. A running engine and tranny is a 600 dollar combo at best.

Sounds like a parts car to me as well. Like you said there is likely more than meets the eye with the rust. The more you dig into it the more rot you will find and then your stuck with it.

Shock tower rot = parts car.

If you bought it for $1000, you'd prob break even on parting it out. Not worth it.

Unless you drove the piss out of it for a couple of years then I would call it money well spent!

Not worth it. You will spend more to repair it than it's worth. Unless you want to offer $500 and part it out, keep looking.
