Anyways I wanted to post this here in tech for others to be able to search.

I have a mismatched MAF and Injectors. In other word my injectors are 36# and my MAF is calibrated for 42#. Well I Call IST which I had bought the MAF from to get it recalibrated for my car. I speak to one of the sales reps and he said that with this AIR ADJ you can add voltage and remove voltage to go up or down using the same MAF. I after a long build was trying to get away with something that would help get me on the road ASAP with as little cost as possible. He went and said that I would get better results from this Widget than getting a TWEECER or Tune. Wrong I have Have nothing but problems with this thing I doesn't have any settings leaving you to just basically guess on how much voltage you need to add or subtract. Total garbage. I called them several times and very little support and crappy service. They know that they sell garbage due to their return policy, after 3 emails to the customer service they email me "we only take items back that are defective, and then only for repair......" this is the whole email. They claim to be the Mass Air Experts.:bs: They know that the product they sell is garbage thats why they don't take them back so that way your stuck with them. This is on top of very slow shipping and order processing.

Please anyone considering their product don't make the same mistake I did they are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. It was a $200.00 lesson that I had to learn a little too late. :mad:

Wish I would have asked fellow stangers:SNSign:before or searched a little further. And if a company doesn't stand behind their product with a Satisfaction garuantee even if there is a restocking fee, Dont buy it.....:notnice:

Sucks to hear...as a fellow bang your head against a wall because the car fights you every step of the way...Sorry to hear about the turn for the worse.

Why was it "cald" for 42's? Did you change your mind on inj. size after the fact or is it a F'up on the manufac. end?

Good luck getting it sorted out.

I have drove the mustang around since Sat. as well as work and back Monday and today. Just saying....there will be a day you can drive it and enjoy it somewhat. Being DONE...well no matter what they are never that. Stick with it there is light at the end of whatever tunel your in...somewere.

When it comes to adjusting things to compensate for all the hot rod parts ........

As we all know ... there is more than one way to skin that cat ;)

Myself ... the way I'm most familiar with (Tweecer) is where you use a meter
that is made to handle the amount of airflow your motor can produce and
size of injectors that can properly supply fuel for that amount of airflow.

You take some baseline test runs and then adjust accordingly to obtain the
a/f ratio you desire :nice:

That in a nutshell describes dialing in the meter's transfer curve :)

The device you describe sounds like it attempts to do the same but the
bait they use to catch customers is ... user friendly-ness :rolleyes:

Then again ... the boys who use the PMS don't even get involved with
messing with the meter's transfer curve :shrug:

I'd say it all depends upon ......
the compentency of the one who is manipulating the data :D

Seems to me you should do a bit more research before giving up :shrug:
Maybe it is something small you could have overlooked :shrug:

They've got a few ways of doing it. You would know it as WOT Fueling vs RPM. There is also a table for cruising RPM vs load.

In "standalone" mode, you can actually manipulate fuel/spark PER cylinder. Pretty tricky.

If you buy the InterACQ software you get much more detailed control over what you can do with the handheld. In the software is a MAF transfer area. I guess some things just aren't easy to work in with the handheld... can you imagine editing all 60 cells on a little handheld screen! :rlaugh:

The PMS is interesting, I'm getting to mess with it more and more nowadays. I am still a twEECer man myself, however. Despite the leaning curve, it is very inexpensive and POWERFUL.

So did you end up around 1.16 to make the 42# meter work with your 36# injectors? (make sure regulator is 39psi with vacuum off).

No way to tell what your doing....Its basically a voltage meter.

The way they sell it to you its very cut and dry and its not.

If you call a company for one service and you convince me that this is the way to go then be a stand up company and give me support and stand behind your product.

I ended up changing my mind about the injectors since I went NA rather than supercharged.....

It is very sad that I have to take time to write up this thread so others don't make the same mistake rather than a post on how good its running.

As for tunning ability its not something that gives you that much control. A person looking for this wants something a little more plug and play. In order to dial this thing in you would probably need some dyno time.:nono:not plug and play anymore:nono: And for $200 might as well get the same thing done via chip or base tweecer. And get better results.

Point of the matter being IST = crapola
 
Still got it connected? If you want to screw with it until you get your twEECer try this...

Multiplying your stock MAF voltage by 1.16 should get you very close barring any other mechanical problems. (39psi fuel pressure w/out vacuum on regulator)

So for example... say you hold a steady, exact RPM, 2000 is good, do not use idle rpm, backprobe the MAF sigrtn wire and find it reading 2v. Multiply this times 1.16 and you'll get 2.32. Plug the MAF adjuster, hold rpms to 2,000 and set it to 2.32v.

P.S. Would be helpful to pull the negative battery cable and hold the brake pedal down for 10sec to clear the KAM before all this.
 
I already ordered the TWEECER RT it should be here like middle of next week I have already been messing with it enough and dont want to risk screwing anything up. Once I get the tweecer on there then I can check off that in the troubleshooting check list.

I've always felt what bothers most peeps with the Tweecer is the
fact its mostly nothing more than a way to access the pcm data

The ability to have access to most things one would want or need
to change ... Well ... I've always found more options are better
than just a few :D

Yes ... for the money spent ... A way to do it with less money for sure

As for the learning curve :)

I usually have more time and ideas to try than I got money to spend
on stuff that is more user friendly or something that might do some
of the thinking for me.

I'm just an old school ... no frills ... kinda guy ... I reckon :shrug:
