I've been wondering what my car would run like with a couple of my near future mods. Keep in mind that as it sits, (though some of you won't believe it, and maybe flame me) that I've beat several LS1 Trans Am's/Z28 from 20mph+. I've beaten a car that has run 8.8's at the track.
I've been wondering what it would run like with 90/10 in the front, 50/50's in the back, and the battery in the back, with some M/T slicks.
The rest is in the sig, with 3.55 gears and a 5 speed (considering it doesn't shatter within the first 60 feet with slicks)

Is your cam stock? I would worry about your T5 taking the abuse at the drag strip, especially with M/T slicks.

running from a 20mph roll is a lot different then running from a dig!
no traction = your times suck!

I hate to say it, but i don't think you T5 will hold up to drag racing abuse very long. your in the same rut i was in with my AOD, i had to put a lot of money into it for it to take the abuse at the strip.
did you keep the 6cly springs in the car? if so, you can greatly benefit from 90/10's and 50/50's and the battery in the trunk!
take a look at my sig .. even with my mods for suspension my 60' isn't that great compared to a stock ls1 60' with slicks.

my next upgrades are ET Streets and SSM lift bars

good luck

I agree. I don't see anything about his engine that would convince me he's beating those guys, especially from a 20mph roll. He's playing into the LS1s strong points and forfeiting his strong points...

I'd like to hear the rest of the story...

Want to hear the whole story? I can't get traction. One day I came up next to an LS1 T/A at about 20. We went to 90. I had him by maybe a couple of feet.

I didn't ask if you believed me or not, I wondered what a car that could run with an LS1 would do if it could get traction, considering my tranny doesn't break, because I half expect it will.

BTW, if my motor doesn't seem impressive, then why have I beat an 8.8sec 1/8th car from a dead stop, with what few performance mods I have and with me having traction problems?

I can't wait to post timeslips to you disbelievers! I have no reason to fabricate stories.

Street racing GOOODDDDDD..... Especially for money.

I'm not talking crap fart can racers.

I'm talking cars that are capable of 8's in the quarter.

I just go when I know this guy is going to run and do some side bets. Let's just say 100mm turbo is BBBBAAAAADDDDDD!!!!!!!

BTW a car that runs 8.8's at the track doens't mean it runs that on the street.

Traction on the street is next to none.

Once you get a high HP car on the street all you do is spin spin spin. On the track with VHT now thats when it really hooks and goes.

Believe me, I know that the track is different than the street. I'm just saying that if a car is capable of running on the street with a typical LS1 with a typical driver from a punch, I wonder how it would run with good traction from a stop.

But, I'm sure the T5 would break. I need a Tremec
