I had some rather nasty bearing noises comming from my factory pulleys on my 04 Cobra. Took it into Landmark Ford...for what I thought would be a routine replacement of 3 smooth pulleys and the remounting of my idler. I ordered 3 100mm smooth and 1 92mm from BilletFlow. All they had to do is replace them. I offered them the belt size 81" as the larger size would be required given the 6lb lower and 3.10 upper. I took the car in bright and early last Monday at 7:45 am. I got the car back 5:15pm on Thursday.

Tech's comments in quotes ""

Step 1. "oh this will take 2.5hr labor to replace these"
Step 2 "oh we can't get the pulleys to work in the way you asked them to be placed...it"

Step 3. "We got it all together you're old belt worked fine..we started it..something shreded your belt ...need to get another"

Step 4. "We got the belt today but we lost your factory pulley we were going to put next to the 6lb lower you have.....not sure where it is...need to get one somewhere"

Step 5. "Sorry the guy we sent out to get your part ...well he went to the wrong place...its in vancover now...so tommorrow we will get it"

Step 6. End of day "We got it all together sounds good...I took 2 of the 4 days rental off for you...."

I go in ...car sounds good at idol now...no squeaking pulleys ...yay....

I drive home....hear this hard metal sound like something gone bad.....The top of the engine is now vibrating a bit I can hear it now at idol slightly but at RPM much more so.

I freak! not going back there again.

p.s. They overwrote my Tune from Krazy Koncepts. The great news is my Predator with the tune on it...no longer works on my car because its "not the same original tune different car". I guess them 'reseting it" altered the cars brain so much the Predator now see's it as a new car thus violating the usage licence somehow.

This the result of there fine handy work:

"Sound coming from the super"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9F7qPUAgY0

I actually walked around the car....it's definitely coming from the snout area...

So I need a pro shop near or close to newberg, OR. Or on this side of Portland if possible.

you would be surprised what the pulleys and belts can sound like when they are unhappy, and since that is what they were messing with its an 90% chance

Still, I dont know that I would drive it until I found out what it was for sure! Noises dont get better, they just get more expensive

Can a missing tooth on the tensioner cause belt slip?

So I called billetflow and the good man said "Belt if its making noise under load its more then likely the belt slipping"

I whomped on it a bit today and yeah it pretty much just bogged....i'm thinking slipzilla.

I was looking at my old thread and yeah I had a 80.5 on there before so 81" is not that far off. I looked at my belt tensioner.

Its missing a freaking stop tooth on the pulley side of the tensioner. That can't be good. Its like broke off.

Can that cause the slippage?

The stop tooth is taken off most of the time and shouldn't be a issue.

it's a 1/2" difference and that would make a big difference! I would do the 80.5 belt like before,or may you got some bad pullies from the factory? The dealer could of mis aligned the pullies somehow when they installed them and that would cause it to ride weird and wear out the bearing in the pulley.just a few suggestions for ya.peace

So I went into the dealer yet again...as the car sounds like its going to explode. They showed me that my Billet Flow 3.10 had the first two ribs "front side" flat. I was like "damn...." and closer inspection showed that my lower had some paint removal on one rib. So...the conclusion is that something like a rock got under my belt and wore down the super upper.

I called Billetflow and Mark was shocked! He sent me another one out and wanted me to send mine in so he could inspect it. He had never heard of a super pulley wearing.

So I ordered a new 81" Gatorback...the segmentation on the ribs of the belt will help reduce the noise for sure. I will have them today or tomorrow. I will replace the belt and upper should be awesome!

I will let you know.

I would personally not run a segmented belt with a segmented pulley. I like the Gates Green Stripe belts for something like that. But hey, thats just me.

Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while. I replied to your pm.
Your Predator tuner has now been turned into a Ford OBDII scanner/data logger only.

****Please don't "whomp" on it anymore without being tuned first! With that combination and Ford flashing it to a stock tune she's gonna have oil leaking out a hole in the block issues and not just belt noises.
