This is my first "performance Item that I added to the car. Wow!! The car is much more fun to drive around. Gas milage doesn't seem to have suffered. What do you guys think of an intake swap next? Yah, and I got the 3.73's over the 3.55's because I have 235/60/16's on Centerlines in the back. Next step...? Recomendations welcome!

Congrats on getting the 373's installed...I have always believed that gearing is the best performance/daily driver gear there is...with the 3:55 option being there for the slightly more gas conscious driver...whether it be auto or 5spd...

Gas mileage will suffer on the highway some...

gears were a great place to start. i wish i woulda done mine first, and i do love my 3.73's............. pullies will give you abit more pep, but exhaust is a good place to start, not just for the performance but the sound too

TT, and i dont mean tick tock.

congrats - glad to hear you like them.

the other recommendations are very good. you really cant go wrong with any of them.
dont forget - if you are building speed, dont forget the brakes. :)

good luck.

What's your ultimate direction with this car? If you're gonna be a track junky, you need to address more suspension issues first.

I wouldn't spend too much money on exhaust and intake upgrades just yet, they won't do a whole lot with the stock heads and cam. I'd start off with some good rear control arms such as max motorsports lowers with ford racing uppers. Those gears are useless if you're arms won't transfer the power to the ground. That would be my very next mod

Well I dunno what you have done to the stang already, or even what year/model it is, but I would do subframe connectors (ESPECIALLY if it's a vert!) and then exhaust. Probably just a mid-pipe and some mufflers or cat-back. No need for headers at this point. An intake would help out a lot. I would get the Edelbrock Performer 5.0 right NOW if I weren't saving for my supercharger (see sig  ) cus it's supposed to help out a lot. I noticed a NICE gain when I did my pulleys too. Something to keep in mind. But then again, these other guys are right about the suspension, if you want it for the track mainly, beef up the rear end. Maybe do some 31-spline axles so you can run slicks. :hail2: Let us know what you decide.

BTW: good choice on the 3.73's

i'd get headers or subframes

I swear, if I hear one more person suggest subframes as one of the first upgrades to a mustang. You have no need for them until you begin to produce more power and a set of gears will not put you over the critical point. Your right that subframes are a great investment but certainly not to begin with. :nice:
