ordered 18x9 with 255/35 up front and 275/35 in the rear...my car currently has 17x9 with 245/45/17 all around ( i believe may be 245/40 im at work and dont remember) what i want to know is i live in upstate ny and the roads are mostly good but have a few potholes etc around...how much different is the sidewall height of the new tires vs the old? im never good at figuring that out...just dont want to have to worry about bending the wheels all the time...if they are about the same as the 17's then im not worried. thanks :nice:

The /XX number is the height of the sidewall in terms of percent of the width. So, a 255/35 R18 has a 255mm x .35 = 89.25mm sidewall, or about 3.5inches.

A typical 245/45 R17 has about a 4.35inch sidewall. So yes, your chances of bending a rim are higher.

ending up going with 17x9 all around...255/40/17 front and 275/40/17 in the rear (Nitto N555...read alot of good reviews so hopefully you guys dont tell me different :) )
