Hi Everyone,
Well I'm all done w/my 2.3 to 5.0 swap. The donor engine and AOD came from a low mile 89 LSC while all the other bits and pieces came from an 89 GT (minus motor and trans). I knew the transmission was going to be about 1" longer and figured that would be the extent of the difference between the Mustang AOD and the LSC AOD. It turns out that the gear lever on the Lincoln AOD has a different shift pattern than the Mustang....double checked with the unit on my other 5.0. First, has anyone else ran into this issue and how did you remedy it? Second, are there any comparable AOD's from T-Birds etc that will be a direct replacement? Third, is the LSC AOD even worth keeping in my car given the shifter issue and the fact that I will have to shorten my aluminum driveshaft(it fits but allows no play at all)? Finally, I'm thinking it would probably be easiest to remove the engine and transmission as 1 unit in order to replace the AOD...any ideas??
