little advice

I recently blew my motor. and was planning to rebuild it during the winter. But a nasty accident has kept me out of work the past 3 months. So Im just going to buy a used motor from a neighbor. it has 40k mi bone stock. Im going to put it in but was thinking of a cam. Would I need to replace the lifters/springs? If so do u guys reccomend FFRP lifters or other? I will probabaly just go with a E cam.
Is there any other CHEAP performance I could do while doing this swap?

The answer really depends on what condition the engine is in. If the engine was well cared for, then 40k is very low mileage. If that's the case, I'd just put on some fresh gaskets and give it a good tune up; clean the injectors, new cap, rotor, plugs, filters, clean the throttle body, etc... If you intend on installing the E cam, a fresh set of springs would'nt be a bad idea, especially if you plan on running it a little hard. You might want to check out the Ford Racing Parts web site, they might reccomend a stiffer set of springs for the E cam. Hope your back on your feet soon.
