lokar aod cable routing

do you have any experience with the lokar tv cable on an 302 aod set up (65 coup--I have their gas pedal , tv cable and throttle cable kit)? I have it adjusted properly, its just the gas pedal is so dang hard to push, it flexes the firewall. My question is how did you route the tv cable... down over the top of the trans then back around to connect to the tv arm from behind (the tv arm on the trans pointing down)? I think the pedal is hard to push because of binding in the tv cable. How do you guys who have this set up have the cables run, how long would you say you made the cable and how hard is your pedal?? Thank you everyone for your help.

Without running the car disconnect the TV cable from the Carb and see if the Throttle is still binding. There may be another problem.

I did just that and found that my tv lever on the trans has some resistance to it, this is what is causing my stiff pedal. There does not aseem to be that much binding in my cables. How hard shopuld the tv lever be to move on your trans? Mine is not "hard to move" it just has some resistance, enough to give me a real stiff pedal.

There is some resistance, but not enough to cause excessive effort to operate the throttle. Definately not enough to cause the fire wall to flex.

Are you using the Lokar pedal that is specific for '65-'66 Mustangs?

These are about the best pics I can find at the moment that I saved from a forum (not mine). Trans shift lever points up, TV cable lever points down so they move opposite. Are yours moving together?

I'll keep looking to see if I have more, mine's not hooked up yet.

OOH, yah I'm using the correct lokar parts. I disconnected the tv cable from the carb and the trans and exercised it inside the cable housing and found it to have slightly more than the gas pedal (which is pretty much free), so I think it is the tv arm itself on the trans, as when I try to move it it has resistance to it, and that is what I'm feeling in the pedal. The car drives fine and everything seems to work ok except for the stiff pedal. Thanks for your help.

I don't know if Lokar prelubes the cables but I have had great luck with using a mountain bike cable luber ($10) to force lubrication into my speedo cable, brake cables, etc. You might want to ask for one at your local bike or dirtbike shop, it works great and forces the lube all the way out the other end from a spray can/nozzle extension.

You clamp it over the cable end, one end is open, one almost closed and stick the extension wand in the hole on the left and it forces the fluid down the inside of the cable. I use a can of bike cable lubricant, I thought of lithium but I think it would be too thick to force down.
