Hi all

Just sold my 94 Mustang GT to my Dad, I decided I'd like to get a cruiser/weekend car type instead of a dedicated track car, but still run it on the Roadcourse track occasionally...

I'm looking at buying a 94-98 Cobra Convertible, any opinions or things I need to consider?

Any reason to consider a 96-98 as opposed to a 94-95 other than Engine? I'm thinking of a 94/95 just because I'm familiar with the drivetrain, whereas I've had little experience with the Modulars.. Not meaning this to be a debate, just want a few opinions.

How good is the acceleration compared to a stock car from the same era? I've had a 88 GT, slightly modded, a 95 GTS stock </ I hated how slow this was> and a 94 GT with a 347 Stroker.. I'd prefer something around the same power range as what was in the 94 GT.

Also, any reason NOT to consider Convert over Hardtop other than twisting like a pretzel, and the slight extra weight? My first mod would be SFC's.. I've never owned a vert, and I think I'd like to go that direction this go around.

And if anybody knows of a Triple black <MUST be triple black, no tan> 94-98 Cobras for sale for reasonable price, let me know.

Thanks

I'd go 96+, but that is me. the 5.0's, are cheaper to mod I believe. especially cams. but there is a big power difference, stock vs. stock. like 2001 - 2003 difference.

Hey, I just did what you're thinking about doing. That is, I sold my 95 GT and bought a 94 Cobra. The difference in accelleration is definately noticeable. When you shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd in the Cobra you can definately feel the difference in power as compared to the GT. When you shift it perfectly, you sort of get glued to the seat, and thats just stock. I say go for a '94 Cobra, just to save a little money, and that way, you'll still be driving a 5.0L.

I had a 98. Awesome car. Get subframes, gears and intake done. the 96-98 blocks are the best around. Plus you get all the updated refinements. You also don't want to get a car that is too old.

I would not get a vert unless its a weekend cruiser. It weighs more, more to break and maintain, more on insurance, not as rigid.

I miss my 98.

i went from 95 gt vert to a 96 cobra. even with the 3.37s, exhaust and pullies, the 96 (came with bbk o/r H and flows) was still faster. then after the 4.10s, there was no chance of me getting a 5.0 again. 5.0s are cool and have their own sound and many cheap parts but the DOHC engine is just superior. i liked the convertible but 96 had a moon roof, it was bad ass. def go 96+ if you want more power and response to mods.

What kind of mods are norm for the 4.6?

I'm a lot more familiar with the 5.0 engine... H/C/I etc.. What're "THE" mods to do to a 4.6?

Thanks for the replies
