Please help,

I am trying to find the best tire for time street rally racing. I found Nascar goodyear racing slicks Tire size 27.5 X 12 wide fits 15 inch rim. What is the best tire size for street racing? Please help if you can.

rally racing = racing on dirt

If I were to get all wheel slicks, they would be Kumhos, with like a 60 treadwear rating.

Do your racing at the track, not the street. :nonono:

The racing is held by the SCCA and we race at Redskin Stadium parking lot. So it is not the kind of street racing you are thinking about. :)
Sorry it is not Rally it is SOLO racing with the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). The parking lot is pavement and grips well. Does anyone think that the Nascar tires would be ok? What is the normal tire size that is good for slicks on the street?

Tire size depends on the wheel. Your autocrossing. I do this as well, thats what my car is meant to do. If you go with a 15" wheel/tires combo you will have a LOT of sidewall flex, which is BAD. You can get away with a 16" rim if you have them, and run a 225 or 245 tire, with a 45 sidewall.

If you want slicks, the why don't you check out Kumho Ectsa V700's. They are a very soft compound race tire (treadwear: 50).

Personally my next set of tires is going to be Kumho MX's. They are a great street tire, and perform very well on the track.

You know running slicks will put you in a different class with people who may be much much faster than you, right?

I am just getting into the autocrossing. My neighbor is in F Stock and I am joining his team. I am looking for my first Mustang right now. I live in Maryland, is there any 5.0's out there with a 5spd for a good price or I have an 91 explorer for trade.

How is the grip with the Kumho Mx's? What size tire are you running? 15, 16, 17x 8,9? Please let me know.

Thanks,

I have 17x8" rims, and 245/45/17 Kumho Ecsta 712's. Nice street tire, but all I do is slide when I auto-x. The treadwear is 280, so it's not that bad. The MX's are 220.

I rode in a pretty much stock '92 vert and that thing hooked harder than my COUPE with those tires. I didn't hear much squealing, unlike my car where the tires were constantly screeching.
