I picked up a MAC CAI to replace my homemade one, and a Pro-M 80mm MAF the other day, but I can't get them to work together. The Pro-M won't fit where the stock MAF is supposed to go. Is it supposed to fit down in the fenderwell attached to the filter? Does anybody have pics of theirs?

No the 77, 80 MM's do not work with MAC or BBK's cold air kits. The do work with AFM's or Morpheous (they went out of business). The 75MM bullet flanged bolt's right up like the stocker unit. I bet you can trade your 80MM for the 75MM is less than a second on here.

The paint job is really bad but I used what I had on hand at the time. What you see was a trial fit/test to see if I had any probs over time. Its been over a year now and one of these days I'll get around to making things look better. The maf is a ProM shorty 80mm btw.

That looks good! How did you get that coupling to fit over the MAF? Is it 3"? And to angle it in the fender, did you have to trim the sheetmetal?

Yea you trim two inches of sheet metal from fender. Those are Fernco rubber 3 inch boots from Home Depot or Lowes (Plumbing section). Also buy a male fitting (Plumbing) for the oil breather. Drill a hole to except the ACT sensor (use teflon tape). Bolt it all up. You can take it a step further by removing the side marker. Then dremel out a 4 inch by 4 inch square in the black plastic behind that marker. The air filter will be visible now. At the track you remove the side marker during runs and now it's a ram air system. I use to run this back in 95 with great results.

Both of the connectors are 3 inch Fernco brand rubber plumbing devices. The connector fit the maf like it was made for it. I used a die grinder and a cut-off wheel to enlarge the hole. I think flat black would look better but I was pressed for time and gloss black was all I had.

Uh....... I tried the 3" couplings I had from my old homemade CAI, they didn't fit at all. They were slightly smaller than the end of the MAF. WTF??! Is there one that goes from 3" to 3.5" or something?

Gee ...... I don't know what to tell you. The rubber connectors I got from Home Depot slipped right on the maf and the 3 inch pvc pipe with no probs at all. What does the inside diameter of your couplings measure?

Just a thought but My 80mm pro M works with my BBK CAI. All I did was remove the 90 degree elbow and slap that puppy right on the end. Only problem being the MAF is in the engine compartment when it would be better to have it in the fender. but it was an easy fix. Only had to fab up a little bracket so if didnt bounce around. I dont have any pics but I got the idea off another guy on here and he had pics. But I just cant rem the name....damn.
