i just got done installing it a few hours ago. 30 minutes turned into 3 hrs trying to get this damn thing in right, but im stubborn as hell so it is in. it looks damn good, there is not much play i finally got it in the easiest was is to have it all assembled and make if fit. it looks good, brother drove it and tested it said it lost a little down low but pulled a lot harder up top. i'm guessing the maf screen doesnt go back in because i couldnt figure out how to make it go back in. the filter is twice the size of stock i drove it for about 30 mins and touched the metal to see if it was hot and it was still cool to the touch.im going to keeps tabs on mpg and give it a week and let yall know. oh yeah there's no instructions and for the mechanically inept like me the article was some help but not a lot

When I put mine in I ended up chopping off 1.25" of the inlet tube to get it to fit. It looks good thou under the hood.

If it's a stock replacement why did you have to modify this?

This is another of my concerns before I buy one.

Do you retain your stock MAF or do they give you a new one?
I think the 02-04 's have an option to get a new maf, but you can get the one without it. I kinda concerned that people are having to cut an inch off of it. If I spend 180 bucks, im not touchin it with a saw.

I didn't cut mine, but it did take alot of muscle to get it in place. I also left that screen out because it just wouldn't go together with it on. But it looks really good under the hood, and I definitely noticed a boost on the ole butt dyno!

SVTstang03, did you have the straight shot on when you got your dyno numbers done. Those are some good numbers with that few mods. Those are the exact same mods i was going to get except the x, probably going to get the prochamber.

Did you buy the kit with a bigger MAF? What year is your car?

i did on mine & it was a noticable difference. it's been dyno'd & the difference i felt wasn't just in my head ;) i'm going back to the dyno to do the testing on it this time on friday & to make sure my numbers wern't a fluke the last time :D btw - my car was between 12.5 - 13.2 air/fuel ratio when i was on the dyno in case you were wondering :nice:

why are u people cutting and sawing....mine fits perfect...there is just a certain order to what parts u slide in first.....i got the one with the maf...but if i had to do it over again i prob would have just gone with the one without the maf, but because i spent the extra 100 for the maf im keeping it in :D

I believe the difference between the stock MAF and the MAC version this that the MAC one is shorter. I will upload the picture of the problem I had with mine tomorrow.

I know I could not beieve it. The metal was not really hot. I touched right when I got home from work. (20 min drive) What I touched was the actual elbow. When I had my original CAI it got so hot it would burn the crap out of my hand. I will probably be flame for saying this thou, but did not get hot. Oh well.
The thing is thou you figure the metal would conduct the heat. I will try again later today to see if it still stays some what cool.

i drove for over an hour to get home stopped opened the hood touched the metal cai, wasnt hot at all. id even put my will on it after its been driven for a while and not worry about it. itd be a good way to make a bet and get some money, but you feel kinda weird when youre teabagging your car
