You need a Torx bit, size 20 I belive. Use something such as Q-tips to clean the wires RUB GENTLY!!!!! if you break them your screwed. Use a cleaner such as carb cleaner or something like that, I heard not to use WD 40. I used carb cleaner and it worked fine. Spray the wires and rub them gently w/ the Q-tips, you should be able to see a little build up on the wires if there diry,kinda like carbon build up.

DONT poke it with a Q-Tip!!!! 
Go out and buy some PCV/Carb Cleaner (2+2 stuff)
From a DISTANCE spray the 2 little wires until there clean,
Then if you have access to it you can give it a blast VERY CAREFULLY with compressed air to completly dry it,
Or you can just let it air dry,
But it HAS to be perfectly dry before putting it back and starting the car,
We use this method at work everyday and never have problems,

You dont need to completely take it apart with the Torx, I usualy rub the wires GENTLY with a q-tip and rubbing alocohol and then spray them down with some eletrical contact cleaner. Dont forget to unplug the battery while doing it so that the computer can reset & relearn with the clean maf.

you can just use Isopropyl Alcohol... works perfectly... and you need a security torx bit... it has a little hole in the middle... other than those two corrections, you have a good basic idea on what you're doing now...

yes, SECURITY TORX is what you need! (what I said ealier 
) it has a little hole for a pin in the middle... they can't take nearly as much abuse as the standard torx bits, but not really a big issue...
