Just got the Magnaflow catback out of the box tonight (installing this weekend) and I don't like the way the tips look. I really like the angle cut of the stock tips. The other issue is that the joint that holds the tip to the tail pipe will be visible...

Anybody have pics of the system on the LX or have comments? I can still return the system, but once I install it, I gotta live with it...

I think with an LX bumper you're pretty much SOL. I think they had Cobra bumpers in mind when they designed those tail pipes. I have them on mine and i don't like how you can see where the tip slides on, but the plus is that they're infinitely adjustable and they'll be nice and even at the bumper.

Well you could always sell the Magnaflow tail pipes and go with another brand like Flowmaster or Mac for the tail pipes. I personally love how Mac tail pipes look, but they come with a ball and flange that you would have to cut off, and then probably have a muffler shop stretch open the end just a tad so they would slip over the muffler outlet and then clamp them on like the Magnaflows. You *might* have to even weld a few inches of straight pipe onto the end of the Macs to get them to slip over....so maybe just get some 2.5 inner diameter pipe and weld it on the end after you cut the ball and flange off.

Make sense? You might even be able to sell the Magnaflow tail pipes for enough to buy the Mac pipes since the Magnaflows are stainless.

Sounds like a PITA... I think I will call the shop were I purchased the system and see if they have any thoughts...

I got the Bassanni cat back and the tips have the stock shape but look even better because they are 3". One of the reason I got the Bassani over the maganflow is becuase I don't like the look of the Magnaflow tips (weird shape and not long enough). If you like the stock tips, you will like the Bassanni even better.

Given that this is a toy, I guess that I should not worry that the exhaust will be to loud. I think that I will send the magnaflow back and get a Mac system.

In the pics, MAC looks like it will keep the stock apperance... ?

Well correct me if i'm wrong but weren't the stock tails stainless? The Macs and most others are chrome so that alone is going to look different from stock. Flowmaster does make a stainless 2.5 tail pipe kit that would slip on and bolt up with the Magnaflow mufflers. Maybe what you need to do is piece together your own kit. Buy the mufflers you want and the tail pipes you want, and if you don't have the tools/ability to get it all on the car then take it to a muffler shop and they'll take care of you.

I really like Mac but after running the Magnaflows, the only muffler i'd even consider changing to are Spintechs, but you really can't go wrong with the Macs either way.

I just listed the Magnaflow Catback on ebay... the buy it now price is $336. Somebody is going to get a great deal.

Yeah I hear yea on regreting getting rid of the Magnaflow. That is why I ordered it in the first place, because that is what I wanted. I am thinking of canceling the MAC and just having magnaflows muffs welded into the stock pipes. Many this exhaust **** is stressing me out...

Agree

I agree 100% that they messed up on the tips. The fact that you can see the clamps is pretty lame.

You may want to check out the Dynomax Ultraflow SS kit. They sound very similar to the Magnaflow kit and have tailpipes that are just like the stockers only .25" bigger with the correct angle on the tip and are one piece.

They were out of stock when I ordered mine, thats why I got the Magnaflows. I've run Magnaflow on my last 2 Mustangs and love the sound but the tips are stupid. :notnice:

the mac that I ordered has a 3" ss tail section. I have seen it installed & in the pic looked good. I will let u know what I think when I get the mac system.

I would go the route you said in your other post...weld in the Magnaflows to your stock tails...I have Mac exhaust and it sounds like crap...I cant wait to get it off my car....I should have gone with my 1st choice but i listened to the shop that did my Headers...Oh well live an learn....:D

Flowmaster tailpipes (I have the entire cat-back actually)

I'm a stickler for good looking tailpipes on LX's. You dont see the weld seam on the flows. And i love the sound.

{yes i know they are dirty)

I would recommend Dynomax tailpipes also. I got a Superturbo catback and the pipes are a work of art. The bends are smooth and clear the axle perfectly. It's probably quieter than most Stangers prefer, but I like it.

I preferred the Magnaflow sound, but like others hated the seam of the tips showing. I figure someday I can swap in Magnaflow mufflers if I feel like it.
