man a clutch cable can really make a difference.

yesterday when installing my SC i put on a new clutch cable. its the universal cable from MM, this thing really made a difference. its longer and can be mounted away from the headers alot better. and the clutch feels like a a clutch in a honda or something. i always thought my t5 was just a notchy feeling t5 but after the MM cable i could shift faster, easier and just overall the cable was great!

even came with a little dust boot slipped over the cable on the tranny side.

if you are having clutch problems or cable problems. try the Maximum motorsports cable. made a world of difference.

Thoose covers or boots came stock on mustangs.. they cover the clutch fork to..

no this wasnt the metal thing that bolts to the bellhousing its was a small boot on the actual cable. i knew factory had a metal plate that went over the fork and cable. this was an actual rubber boot. i dont have the metal plate.

Yeah, Frankie's came with that boot on her MM clutch cable, too. Pretty cool little feature, actually - keeps road grit and crap from getting up in the cable shielding.

I need to install a new clutch cable.

How difficult is it, and what's the best way to go about installing one?

my dads clutch cable is REALLY soft...and well the first 5 speed i drove the clutch cable was put damn hard to push in and the clutch didnt engage untill about halfway out(needed adjusted i bet) and my dads engages about a 1/2" from the floor and is very soft to where its like pushing in the horn...well i pulled out out of the garage ( dad was drunk and needed the stang out to put a few things away... so i got to pull it out and i stalled it :sad:...(i was still use to the ole truck's clutch) i think its time for him to get a new cutch cable... but HEY he let me move his car....thats a s step..maybe by next year ill get him to let me drive it on the street

that being said...where can we get a new clutch cable from it.

when i did the 351w i looked over the clutch cable and it was broken except for 1 strand...another day or so it would have broken, guess i got lucky. I just bought a parts store brand and it works awesome, MUCH smoother clutch action that stock, the CF dual friction clutch is a light pedal

I was installing my headers and thought I would pull that shield off my tranny (the one that covers the clutch fork) So I took out the 8mm bolt and could not get that sucker off...is there a trick to theese like a clip or something. I changed a cable on a costomers 94 and it came right off. I want to install a new cable when I do the quad and F/W adjuster but I can't get that cover off my fork...............sorry for jacking the thread

On my 91 notch the clutch pedal takes about every bit of strength I have to push it. The guy I bought it from said its supposed to be that hard because it is "a heavy duty clutch"

Even still, it shouldnt be that hard to push...in my GT its almost effortless

Anyone else had that problem?

well the clutch decides how stiff the pedal is not the cable.. And a stock mustang will catch about halfway up with the pedal.. 1/2" from the floor is a not properly adjusted cable..

Yes and no. A cable that's starting to bind up, or one that's just poorly designed, will make the pedal a LOT harder to operate. But true, a clutch pedal can only be as soft as the clutch diaphragm will allow it to, by design.

Hey, when you put your KC on yours, was it alot harder to attach the clutch cable to the fork than when you had the stock one on there?

I don't recall it being any harder? It's been almost 4 years though so who knows. I do know my cable is stretched and i've maxed out the adjustment in the cable, and i believe my clutch is starting to glaze over. Next time i'm going with the Maximum Motorsports cable/firewall adjuster combo and probably a Ram clutch.

The reason i ask is it took me both hands and a foot or two to get the cable attached to the fork... its a new KC clutch and a heavy duty fork.
