He was pulling on me pretty hard. Would gears get me closer to him. He has an auto and he "says" the motor is stock, but that thing was really fast. I made a video but my friend dosent know how to keep the camera on the road. Plus Id get bitched at.

But do you think gears will allow me to keep up with him? Maybe throw some NO2 in the mix?

i dont get it shouldnt this get burn'ed sence it is street raceing ?
now i dont get why that other guy was removed all he did was slip one or two wrong words

ive had it out wit a few ls1s, and wit wats done to my car plus a 50 shot of nos. It was a driver race between us. He got consistent take off every time and 2 out of the 3 i got a good take off and i won those 2 times. I dont understand how full h/c/i cars barely beatin stock ls1s. Ive seen full h/c/i mustangs run 12.0. I know a car right now that runs 12.6 and its got stock ported heads, f cam, and trick flow intake. Car stock weight. I think for ls1 makin 300rwhp stock, our mustangs do pretty damn good against them. and modded our cars do better. i know for our cars to run u need suspension and stuff liek that but bout any car u do. Ive held my own against a few ls1s wit just a 50 shot so its possible to take them wit more spray or lil more work. Also u gotta look at it. Wat did they pay for there car, and wat did we pay for ours. I have bout 4300 in my car,, has higher miles but still runs like a champ. I coudl buy a stroker long block and few parts, a built transmission, a built rear end, and completly do the suspension for wat some of these people are payin for there ls1s. Then we will see whos runnin wat.

I picked the black 99 Z up for $6,000 with 72k on the od a few mos ago. The argument about cost is fast disappearing. A clean 5.0 still brings 3500-5000....especially a notch. Then do some work to it and your over the cost of a stock LS1. Throw a $750.00 quality nitrous kit on an LS1 and then what happens???

Basically...the LS1 car benefited from CAD programs and electronics design years ahead of a 5.0.

There will always be someone faster...plain and simple. You will win and lose...fact of life and racing.

Both the Stang and Camaro are fun cars....the SRT-4 crowds like to brag how they can beat V8's with 1/2 the displacement.

In the end does it mater....no. Run what you brung...if you lose....mod it more and don't cry about it. The statement I hate the most is...."I could have beat him if...."

I agree. I like the mustangs better and always have. Mustangs sound better, easier to work on, and have the V8's that I like best after driving them all. I had a z28 and it was fast but you sit like you are in a reclining chair, cheap plastics, and I didn' tlike th e"buble" top look of the hard tops. I liked the verts though and the v8 was very strong. Pro's and con's. I really like the looks of that orange one though. They are nice cars too.

Man, I agree with you 100%. There will always be someone faster. To me it don't matter - you win some you lose some. Congrat. the other person and move on.

Now with that said. I must say that no matter how fast those Camaros are they are one of the UGLIEST cars out there. It looks as if Chevy was confused about what they wanted from the car. To me it's a cross between an European and Domestic car - a Euromestic car. Just Plain Damn Ugly. I don't care if it 1000hp for $2,000 I would not buy because it's just Ugly.

+1. I really like the z28's and actually think they look good with a set of rims and tires. But they still don't have the killer look of a mustang, and the interior is pretty cheezy. I only wish ford would have manned up in '94 and put an aluminum 5.8 in our cars...then it'd be a truly even playing field.

I cant beleive Ford would do this to us. :nonono:

Well Ford basically Equipped us with a knife for a gun fight.
In order to take the LS1 cars you are basically going to have to equip the mustang to go 12's.
Now if you come up against a SLP FireHawk even a convertable you are going to have to be able to run mid 12's or low 12's to compete.
All of this means extensive mods. I don't know why they kit our buts in stock trim (well actually i know its because they were dumping corvette engines in these cars) but ford should have been doing a better job keeping up to them.
That being said Ford at the time was out selling the 2 to 1 and Mustangs didn't get discontinued because of there price or lack of sales. So bottom line is H/C/I with a 347 and 8 lbs boost or 150 hp shot of juice and you should be good.

you could start by shaving wieght. Also relocating wieght to where it is going to help you. Perhaps a drag race suspension is in order. 2 many people focus on power and not enough time on the suspension.

Yea. Another thing that I later found out was that my front tire picked up a nail and was kinda low. So that slowed me down. Plus I had a passenger and a floor jack in the trunk. Im sure if I did some weight reduction like remove the passenger seat and all that jazz, and had my tires normal I would have been closer. I got his number and were gonna hook up when I do my gears. I guess this gives me something to shoot for.
