But do you think gears will allow me to keep up with him? Maybe throw some NO2 in the mix?

Then do some work to it and your over the cost of a stock LS1. Throw a $750.00 quality nitrous kit on an LS1 and then what happens???
Basically...the LS1 car benefited from CAD programs and electronics design years ahead of a 5.0.
There will always be someone faster...plain and simple. You will win and lose...fact of life and racing.
Both the Stang and Camaro are fun cars....the SRT-4 crowds like to brag how they can beat V8's with 1/2 the displacement.
In the end does it mater....no. Run what you brung...if you lose....mod it more and don't cry about it. The statement I hate the most is...."I could have beat him if...."

Pokageek said:I agree. I like the mustangs better and always have. Mustangs sound better, easier to work on, and have the V8's that I like best after driving them all. I had a z28 and it was fast but you sit like you are in a reclining chair, cheap plastics, and I didn' tlike th e"buble" top look of the hard tops. I liked the verts though and the v8 was very strong. Pro's and con's. I really like the looks of that orange one though. They are nice cars too.

Im not talking about the race. Im asking what I will need to do to get my car on the same level as his car.bmw350v said:i dont get it shouldnt this get burn'ed sence it is street raceing ?

you could start by shaving wieght. Also relocating wieght to where it is going to help you. Perhaps a drag race suspension is in order. 2 many people focus on power and not enough time on the suspension. The Green GT said:Im not talking about the race. Yea. Another thing that I later found out was that my front tire picked up a nail and was kinda low. So that slowed me down. Plus I had a passenger and a floor jack in the trunk. Im sure if I did some weight reduction like remove the passenger seat and all that jazz, and had my tires normal I would have been closer. I got his number and were gonna hook up when I do my gears. I guess this gives me something to shoot for.86bluecobra said:you could start by shaving wieght. Also relocating wieght to where it is going to help you. Not huge. I took out the rear seat and put 2 10's and a small amp. Im pretty sure it weighs less than the seat.86bluecobra said:Also do you have a huge stereo system in your car? Lots of wieght there.
