i may be getting an 85 monter carlo SS with a 350 and th350 tranny. it has full exhaust, with flowmasters and dumps. accell HEI,nice intake and carb. stock cam and heads though. i plan on a cam swap very soon after i get it though. it has a 2600-2800 stall and 3.73 gears. weld draglites are all around the car and it has a fiberglass 3 inch cowl hood.a i might be trading my quad plus cash for it. i have driven it before and it is pretty quick for what it is. this is going to be the daily driver if my friend goes for it. he wants a 4 wheeler i want this car, it just works out. now i can take the mustang and the SS to the track and go head to head with each other.

Monte's look good from the front, but I'm not a fan of the ass end. I like them though. You can't underestimate a built g? body, as there not as heavy as people think. They just came with that weak a*s 305 which made em dogs.

the trannies that were crappy were the 700r4. it has a turbo 350 in it now. i have seen a write up on a 5spd conversion and i would love to do that, that aint going to happen, the mustang gets all the mods besides the vortec heads i plan on swapping onto this.

I always liked those cars, but I Hated the fact that you could never get a Manual Tranny. I think they were G Bodies, which had the Monte, the Regal, and the Cutlass. GM went down hill when they converted them all to FWD after 88.

there is a guy down the street that has an ss monte. he blew that POS 305 and swapped it with an LS1/6spd. that car is cherry, I wouldnt mind having one of those one bit.

I had a carb'd 305 83 z28 with the l69 H.O. that a lot of later montes came with. The car came factory with 3.73s. It was capable of 15 flats but mine had sat for years and never was up to snuff even with 34k miles when I put it in a ditch. It done alright though, just didn't have the torque or power the lx has, and definetly would lose with the gears in the lx now.
