Mod questions....Help the Girl out! :D

Ok, first thing I want to do is get my exhaust on. I bought the Magnaflow Magnapacks and am looking to get an X-Pipe but not sure where to get one from and what brand name. I am thinking about the Magnaflow catted X. Then I would like to do some more mods, but not sure which. I am going for performance and "look" right now besides getting rims. I've been reading that some recommend a:
Cold Air Intake, if so which Brand, MAC?
Pulleys, which brand is best for the $?
Gears, I have a 5-Speed Brand?

Anything else? I also want to get lowering springs but am unsure of what brand...Eibach? Steeda?

Thanks for the help!

cold air intake is more of a cosmetic mod really. especially if you get one that is metal. for a bolton stang your just as well off to get the K&N replacement filter.

as for gears, www.mustangtuning.com has some great prices on motive and FRPP both are nice gears.

as for the x-pipe most seem to say Dr. Gas x-pipe. it has a lot of welding that needs to be done but gives the best gains. if you are having a shop put it in, it will cost you more than a regualr x or h pipe because of the extra welding.

Pulleys i think steeda are probably the best.

springs eibach are the ones i will be getting when i do in a few months.

Magnaflow's X pipe is a nice piece, I love mine. Don't waste your cash on CAI unless you're buying it for the looks ... A K&N filter in your stock air box will be fine. Go with Steeda for the pulleys and you might as well get their timing adjuster while you're at it. Most people will tell you 4.10s for the gears, but I like my 3.27s just fine. I see you have good taste in color! :nice: Are you from Pgh.?

Thanks Guys! I have a K&N, my first "mod". As for the CAI, if it won't do a darn thing performance wise, then heck with it! :D As for the gears, for a car that is a daily drive, in all kinds of weather which is the best? I love my 5-speed but am not sure what to expect from changing gears. I know it does not enhance HP but allows fast shifting?

I am actually from Scranton area :D

Ok, well ... Don't get any ideas, I'm happily married and you're too far away anyhow. :p I though you were closer to Pgh. since you have the Steelers in your sig. I was going to let you hear my X pipe, but I'm not driving 300 miles away to do it. :rlaugh:

The gears won't give you any power, but it will feel like they did if you get them. Steeper gears will get your engine into the powerband faster by making it rev a little higher than it does now no matter what gear you're in.

I have the K & N FIPK. I guess it's not technically a CAI, but I don't know what the difference is. Anyhow, I wish I had spent $200 on something else with more gains. At least it impresses the ricers. :rlaugh: Are you also considering o/r X-pipes? If I were to buy an X-pipe, I'd go with the Dr. Gas myself. Right now I'm happy with my H-pipe though. Good luck with the decision making. :)

I have thought about o/r x-pipes but I dont want it too loud that the little local cops will have fun pulling me over. I noticed you have Mach 1 springs and shocks in your sig, how do you like them?

'01 True Blue GT.........your married????? :( DARN! J/k :D I'm happily engaged!

If you are looking at a catted x , anything with 2 cats instead of 4 will give you more power , but most people end up swapping for full length exhaust later , I got the BBK full lengths and matching catted X and i love them , and it gave me more power than any mod I have ever done besides the supercharger of course , shout at Cottonburners on here , he has a dyno sheet of his before and after , I am thinking it was about 32 HP and 25 Tq at the rear wheels with the same exhaust set up im speaking about . it is a time consuming and expensive mod , but you wont be dissappointed unlike spending a few hundred here and a few hundred there and not seeing much gain .

You got the HP/TQ reverse man :p

Yes I got my LT because I want to get every last bit of HP out of her.. It was a worthwhile experience installing and everything.

BTW, did you do any dyno before and after for your car as well? I'd like to see what kind of gain do people with blower get.

nahh didnt dyno yet , but i gotta leave VA tonight to be at Tims (T&Js) at 9am sharp , rushed to get my gauges in and im stuck at work right now , so only my fuel pressure gauge is working , but thats the only one Tim was concerned about , because im running vortechs kit with the walbro in tank 255 pump which he said they had some quality issues with I guess LOL , well i hope it holds up . But I should have my numbers posted on here Tuesday .

IMHOP Gears: FMS 4.10's/Dallas mustang speed cal.

Shifter: Pro-5.0
xpipe: Magnaflow catted x

Pulleys: Steeda w/timing adjuster

air intake: Check C&L they offer a potent combo for your car.

Think ahead: welded in subframe connectors (I reccomend FMS)

I ran these exact mods on my old 99GT 5 spd and ended up running 13.7 @101.88 on stock tires

Good luck and God bless.. :flag:

I like the drop I got with the MRT springs, except I wish the rear was just a little lower. The Mach1 shocks/struts improved the handling and the ride wasn't compromised too much. That's good since my kids have to ride in the back. Here's a pic from before

and one after the springs have settled (Btw, I'm not trying to be an attention whore, it's just the only recent picture I have. Someone can black me out if they want. )

The Magnaflow X pipe would be perfect.
CAI are worthless. I would spend the money on a Plenum.
Gears, 4.10s if you go to the track often. 3.73s if arent too big on the track.

I would pick Eiback over Steeda. Steeda racks their prises up way too high.

Sorry for this but, what is a Plenum, I think I know but I just want to be sure. Also what is the price for one.

Thanks!

To tell you the truth I've only waxed my car once or twice. That first pic was right after using the Mequire's Gold Class. I'm going to try their new NXT Tech was this weekend. :nice:

The plenum is that thing on top of the engine with the running horse on it. The new plenums are larger and more curvy, allowing more air to pass through smoothly. I know it's probably not the best explanation or very technical, but I tried.
