Mongoose Kit?

I've been searching around for the Vortech Mongoose Kit. It seems like most of the end result is 350-365 rwhp with this blower at 8psi. Im wondering how can you get a mongoose kit to make 400 at the wheels without having to do cams, ported heads or more boost. Also is the reason these kits are making a little less power because of the conservative tune? Id like to get this mongoose kit because of the price but be making close to 400 at the wheels with 8pounds of boost.

boost pipe and a more aggressive tune will net you 400 at the wheels.

Eh, yeah with race gas MAYBE. My setup is good for 423rwhp (longtubes, throttle body/plenum, catback, orx) on a moderately aggressive tune and 93 octane. I'm not even sure if 8psi will net 400rwhp without an intercooler no matter what...

If you want 400rwhp with 8psi either get an intercooler and boost pipe, or water/meth injection, and a tune.

I think with a bigger TB, plenum, and a boost pipe, your car could easily see 400rwhp. I would personally get an intercooler so that i could not only gain power, but do it safely and more efficiently

Im just thinking because of the heat. I'd like to keep the boost at a minimum. I live in Bakersfield, Ca which is hotter than all hell in the summer. Because of the heat would it be most beneficial to get an intercooler?

I disagree. With stock exhaust manifolds (orx and magnaflow cb) I made 365rwhp with plenum/tb and powerpipe. You're simply not gonna see 400rwhp without some way of cooling your IAT's down so you can run more timing...especially since the Mongoose tune lowers timing if IAT's get to hot.

A boost pipe may allow you to see more boost on a boost gauge, but all its doing is letting the supercharger suck in air more easily, same idea as a big-tube style CAI.

I was thinking along the lines of having LT's on the car as well. I don't see why the car couldn't push very close to 400rwhp with a powerpipe, full exhuast (including LT's), plenum, and 75mm TB. Remember, every car is different too. Just because you saw 365rwhp doesnt mean others don't see 350-375 with the same stuff. I could see LT's and a boost pipe making up for 25-30rwhp easy on a FI motor.

Lmao...dude... My point was that there is NO way you'll see 400rwhp from 8PSI non intercooled, save for adding long tubes, might get you close.

Go here and tell me how many 8psi non intercooled stock head/cam S-trim cars you find. :p

It will take more than that if you stick with an 8lb pulley. When I had a boost a pipe stock pulley and mac prochamber and mac cat back. I made 347. Then I went to a 3.3 pulley and made 371. Installed a cheap ebay IC set up for $450, Professional Products 75mm TB/plenum for $205, and 2.8" RR pulley for $30 from ebay lol and it made 431 @11-12 psi. So I picked up 60 rwhp for a total $695. Fixed a couple bugs with my IC setup and I now see between 13.5-14psi. I have also installed Longtubes since the tune.

forget the 8 psi. you need at least 10 psi. its just as safe and you dont need an IC for it. i ran 11 psi all summer with no cooler and i dont have any problems. i put the cooler on mine b/c i will be looking at a lot more boost this year.

No way you'll be seeing 400whp. I have a V1 S-trim with the stock pulley which makes around 9psi at redline. Also have a boost pipe, TB, plenum, longtubes, o/r H and dynomax 3" catback. I make 350hp because the IAT's get so hot that the car has to pull timing. Intercooler and smaller pulley need to be my next mods.

Oops, double post. Anyway, I know there is more power left in my car because the torque is so high, but I'm gonna need meth injection or intercooling. The car was dyno'd in around 70 degree heat with a huge fan in front and a small fan to cool the blower in between pulls.
