MOTIVATION!!!

Well I finally gone done do-ed it! "sally" is unwrapped from her "winter wear". I am hoping that now the weather is warmer, and she be almost naked it will be impossible to NOT get some work done, especially since I haven't done anything since before Thanksgiving!
I'm also taking a different tack.......next on the list will be the rear sub-frame/chassis/suspension work (sunny days), with the pass door skinning and engine stripping/paint for rainy days.

Spiffy.

I still need to get off my butt and start stripping down old Sadie and pull her engine & tranny, but it suddenly got hot.

The next thing I'll probably end up doing, though is getting new tires for new Sadie and swapping around wheels. Dad's going to let me use his Cragers (he bought them new) which are currently on the Dodge but those tires are dry-rotted (been sitting a while) so I need to get some new ones. New Sadie's wheels won't fit the Dodge but old Sadie's will. So I need to pull the Cragers off the Dodge, put old Sadie's wheels (slotted mags) on the Dodge, put new Sadie's wheels (plain old wheels with covers) on old Sadie, and put the Cragers on new Sadie (confused yet? lol).

I also need to do a little work on new Sadie's tranny. It's slipping going into 3rd and the reverse clutch is sticking a little. Not really horrible, but kind of annoying.

LOL. No, not for performance. For now I just want to get it working better. When I rebuild old Sadie's 289, I'll also rebuild her tranny, but nothing too special because I'd eventually like to get an AOD.

Good to see you up and about! You've been quiet.

'Chelle - AOD's are fun, but there are lot's of "issues" in putting it in our cars. When I put one in Chepie, it created some headaches, but with adding 3.55 gears, it did make it fun to drive. Toss in the Cragars, new Sadie will be racing from stop light to stop light!

That my friend is a precision tool! It is used to make precise holes in roofs and open windows from the outside. Used in conjunction with another precision tool known as a "Halligan" it can also be used to unlock doors!

Funny, I thought the common window-opening tool was an exhausted 15-lb extinguisher bottle

And, you realize that, while an axe and a Halligan are a nice door-opening combo; you could also do well with a Hooligan carrying some small paperclips

Ugh. Now I'm searching for motivation! Gotta go figure out why the RAM has a dead battery, and finish running power wiring for my radio stack under the back seat of the F150.

I know you rednecks down in Yuma like doing things in a different way, but you might want to try using your keys once in a while...

Keys are always good; but there are unforseen occurrances - your younger daughter borrows a key a forgets at whose house she left it, the older daughter leaves it in the toolbox of her truck before she drives to Louisiana........ (not that either of those inconveniences has ever happened to me )
In those instances, it's always good to have a backup plan!

Gotta go back out. Need to see who's got a decent Group 65 battery for the RAM. Steenkin' thing only lasted about 3 summers and it's already lost a cell Time to grit my teeth and empty my wallet.

I understand.. I just got done fixing the A/C in my explorer last weekend when the clutch went out as I pulled into my driveway!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the battery wasn't too much of a surprise - it was the OEM battery installed in the truck at the factory; so it's over 4 years old. As I mentioned in my daughter's thread; that fact that one of our vehicles had a 4-year-old battery (it's a 2002 truck) can easily explained by my not having put any Amateur Radio gear in the wife's truck!

Good news is that autozone is now selling batteries from Johnson Controls, as opposed to Exide. Johnson batteries are known for best standing up to the heat. Since the Ram is commonly referred to as "the Mom-mobile", I'd like a decent battery in it!

Unfortunately, while in there, I found out that the e-fan for the A/C condenser (mounted seperately from the radiator and oil/tranny coolers) is dead. Much web-searching for the correct replacement only p***d me off, so I just finished dropping 79.95 plus freight for a Flex-a-Lite 394 through (of all places) Amazon.com As long as it works......

The hooligans around here prefer bricks over paperclips.......it's hysterical watching them throw a brick at a "Hurricane-Proof" (i.e. "lexan") window, only to have it riccochette (sp?) and nail them in the head!
