Mountaineer GT40 heads question

Ive heard that the Mountaineer 5.0s have gt40 heads on them. if i were to get those from a junkyard, i would need a different intake right?? would the intake off of the mountaineer work???

The mountaineer is the mercury version of the Explorer. People use explorer heads and intakes all the time. You don't need the intake to do the heads, but you'll get better performance then stock.

The heads are GT40P heads. You'll need special headers to make it work on your car and i believe there is something you need to do like a drill/tap a hole for an emissons tube on the back of the head but i'm not sure of the specifics, i'm sure somebody here can give you all the details.

ah that sux i would have gone to the junkyard to pic some up, i dont want to do all that stuff tho i just want to bolt them on

Then buy a set from a supplier like Coart High Performance who sells then with the thermactor holes drilled in already - bolt em on.
