if you want some jerry rigged mufflers. Take the stock ones off and cut a square hole in them and then gut the hell out of them, and then weld the plate you cut off back on and then listen....Mmmmm...nice....did it to a 01' silverado one time and it sounded just like any one chamber flows i'd ever heard on a mustang...cheap, cost us nothing. And that was on a single muffler pickup.
You didn't really mention what kind of sound you're looking for, or what the rest of your setup will be... so it's kind of hard to give specific advice. I like my Mac's with stock shorties and an off road H, it's fairly loud with a deep tone. Still sounds like a 5.0, but a little different from the ever popular 40 series flows.
i'm pretty sure the quantity is gonna be 2... unless you go with 4 like someone jokingly said. If you want power/cost I always say flowtech, but if you get the long tube headers, weld them up yourself on the slip fit seams, it makes it slightly more difficult to install, but you won't get leaks, also coatings are good... alumnized at least on mufflers and midpipes.
I was thinking about getting the warlocks too, but i ended up with dynomax bullets. I love them! They are cheap and are loud. I got them mainly because i also got a good deal on a magnaflow x pipe with converters and a general rule is straight through mufflers sound better with x pipes. I was a little worried about the setup for smog time, but i passed easily. I do like the fact that the warlocks can be opened up like race readies, i bet they will be loud. I say forget about flowmaster, everyone has flows. Also, get the entire exhaut done if you got the money, ive changed my exhaust so many times and it probably cost me more than doing it all at ounce. I started with flows with the stock h-pipe. Then i went to straight pipes until the neighbor cop said something about it being too loud. So then i got flows again, and finally i went all out and got everything done. Magnaflow x-pipe, dynomax bullets, turndowns, bbk headers(i already had). When i had the stock h-pipe and flows i just barely passed smog.But this last time, i passed beautifully. My advice, is get rid of the stock h-pipe if you still have it on cause it will keep you from passing smog and your car cant breathe. If you dont have to worry about smog, then get an off road x pipe and the bullets, you will like it. The warlocks might sound good too, when uncapped! So thats my pick
As always in posts such as these opinions are going to vary with a whole host of different choices for different reasons per individual.
I've seen so many people say don't get Flowmaster because everyone has them and lots of people want a unique sound for their stang....so many people are following with this belief that guys with Flowmasters will become the minority out there which is fine by me.
With many person's mindset of attempting to be different, don't get a mustang because there are so many people with them. Find another car to mod so you can stand out and be different!! Well we all know most people aren't going to listen to that now are we?
Point being, flows are a great sounding muffler for 5.0 and aren't expensive either which is one reason so many have them. Their sound in my opinion is unmatched.
Well after a little research last night on the flowtech warlock's, that is definatly what I will be getting. Summit has them for $68.50 and they are basically like getting two mufflers in one.
I've never heard answers like this... glasspacks? who would think that they are any good or useable... flowmasters are ok, not the best, and they are the ricer fart can equivalent for mustangs, everyone has them. The warlocks will not give you enough backpressure open, unless your car is heavily modded, 400hp+. I have a gt-40x crate motor, and the flowtech terminators without tailpipes did not give enough backpressure, with tailpipes, they sound great and I don't bog down as easily(unless i screw up). They work great in the upper rpm also, with the tailpipes on, i didn't lose any hp, so tailpipes=good, open warlock+ stock or lightly modded car=bad
If that were true then everyone would be running with 2" headers and a 3-4" exhaust system. Having too much free flow is not ideal for naturally-aspirated applications
