What does it look like without the writing? Does it look any cleaner or does it look strange?

Guy I follow on IG

It doesn’t look too bad. In hindsight I should have mounted them just to see and applied the decals later

For me it's a tough call.
The Mustang lettering has been burned into my brain for 25 years. I see it as one of those things that just looks like it was born there.
With that said, considering we really have no other choice, it's really no harm to mount them without the decals and see how they look.

I kinda wonder how it would look on a black car with no 5.0 emblem? Hmm
I think it works on cars that are notably modified on the exterior.
Not so much on a regular lx. Looks like something is missing. Again, the 5.0 badge looks like it was born there.
If i were to put my car back to an Lx (something i think about all the time), my guess is i would put a badge back on.

I'm 50/50 on the stickers. I ordered some for mine but not sure if I will use them. I like the clean look without them but I'm also use to them being there. I wonder how well they will wear over the years. I think of when you see vehicles with older stickers and they look all beat up. I'm going to mount my windows first and go from there but I'm almost certain that I won't use the stickers, at least not anytime soon. I'm use to debagging everything.

I think the fox mustang era was the last time that the 'mustang' lettering was used. How long did the 'mustang' lettering appear on the sn95 cars?
Good question! I can only think of two places on my car - the rear bumper and the passenger side of the dash. The only places where it says "COBRA" are the steering wheel and the factory floor mats (if that counts). '95 had an "SVT" badge on the driver's side of the trunk and a blue Ford oval on the passenger side. ('94s didn't have the SVT badge.)

I think 2004 was the last year. The GT, mach and V6 got Mustang, and the Cobra got Cobra (except in 94-95 and 1999; said Mustang instead)

However, the font changed a few times. 87-93 had that blocky, separated font (the "M" and "T" )we are familiar with on the quarter windows, rear bumper and on the front bumper on the LX and side skirts on the GT. A bit too much IMHO

94-04 only had it on the bumper and the script on the dash. After 2004, it doesn't say Mustang at all anywhere. TBH is looks weird when i pull behind, say a 2000 Mustang, and see a big ass MUSTANG staring at me. I've gotten so used to the clean look of the S197 and S550's

The "COBRA" rear bumper was a '96+ change. The '94/'95s had a V6 bumper since the GT bumpers said "MUSTANG GT." A lot of people used to swap to "COBRA" bumpers back in the day, which could have been the case on yours if it had one and you weren't the original owner.

If I ever had to replace mine, heaven forbid, I would be happy to find an aftermarket bumper with the factory profile that didn't have anything embossed in it. I agree with Mustang5l5, it just looks cleaner without it. I never got the guys who bought the gold, black, or silver inlay stickers to make the lettering stand out more. Plus, those stickers never aged well located so low to the back of the car. It also seems like the new-edge cars amped up the type size over the SN95s. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but now I want to put them side-by-side and measure to see if the lettering was in fact larger.

I’ve had those stickers in my bumper for 20+ years. Granted on a fox they arent as bold and as in your face as the SN95 cars were.

In fact, I can’t get them out. It’s only in the rear and I’m nuetral on them these days. If my car didn’t have them already I wouldn’t put them on, but back 20 years ago they were the big craze (rememver mustangworld.com)

I don’t care enough to try and remove them.
