Ordering up new interior screws. Mine are original and have some surface rust. I'd like some fresh hardware.

Unfortunately I didn't bring a screw with me to the office. Are they #6 or #8 screws?

They are oval-head type screws in black oxide. Just need to figure out lengths and size. Guess i'll review over the weekend.

Somewhere on this forum there is some chatter about the lack of hood liners and/or repos. I can't find the thing but I came across this:

I'm posting it here so one of you guys can repost it in the thread I'm talking about and can't find. :jester: Cuz I thought it was this one.

Somebody might need to look at 86 and 87+ hood undersides to see if they would be suitable for AeroNose.

It's not OEM but...

Are LMR interior screw kits way overpriced to have you look elsewhere?,If I remember right I thought they were quite reasonable with all the screws bagged and labeled for proper location.

I only need a few of one specific type.

The lmr kit is $62 which is fine if I needed all of it but I need maybe 10 screws of the above type.

They are #8 oval head screws, most about 1”. A box of 100 is $7 plus shipping.

I’m ordering other hardware so I do bulk orders. I just compile a running list on Mcmaster and submit to save on shipping.

For instance, pulled my headliner off tonight, cleaning out the drains and such and was cleaning the sunroof pockets. The hardware is corroded. Since this is visible with the sunroof out (which is all the time when I drove it) I want to see if I can find some more visually appealing bolts….or just ones that are clean and fresh vs these

Which brings me to my latest progress update. Seems I can get in a little work after I get home from work as my 4-year old is interested in helping me. He holds the flashlight and I work. I’ll take it while I can.

Pulled the headliner out. 2.5 sheets of kilmat and foam to fill the space behind the sunroof. Couldn’t really put it elsewhere. Too much sunroof structure. You do NOT want to apply the foam to bare metal. The adhesive is strong. It will not come off ever! You want to stick it to the kilmat only, as a little heat will get it to peel off like it was never there.

I’m going to recover the headliner, again, in black vinyl, which is correct for a sunroof car. I just need to find appropriate vinyl.

My black interior parts car had no sunroof, so ot had a whole clutch headliner which I sold. I recovered my original back around 2000.

Don’t ask

Thanks for posting the pics. Now that I see yours, i am not sure if I can use a solid roof hatch headliner board and turn it into a sunroof headliner board. From my rough measurements using my Saleen, I think the dome light opening from the solid roof car is going to be in the sunroof opening or it is going to be pretty darn close. What I didn't take in account of is the map light location in relation to the sunroof dome light. That looks like it is going to be a problem.

You won't be able to. the map light fits exactly there the sunroof dome light is, and the non-sunroof dome light sits partially in the sunroof opening and where the handle cutout is for the latch.

I just keep stare'n at the headliner pic
Kept me awake last night.

I tried to remove it so i could toss it in the firepit this weekend.

3M Super 90 spray adhesive....that :poo: works. I'm having a difficult time peeling the headliner away from the backing board. It's really stuck on there and I put this on 20+ years ago.

If anyone argues that these spray adhesives dont work, I would like you to come try to help me peel it off. It's inch by inch slowly to free it.

Still looking for a replacement vinyl. Cloth is easy to find but trying to find a thin, foam-backed vinyl to use. Does anyone with a sunroof car have a close up of the vinyl Ford used? Curious to see the grain structure so i can try and match it up somewhat.

At the end of the day, i realize nobody will ever look up and black is black.

Well well well..... Look at what is available again.

There are a few reasons why I like these over the ATS brembos on my shelf. #1, they are smaller so they might clear my cosmis rims without spacers.

Gonna sit and think. If i'm dropping $1K+ on calipers i think I'd prefer the Baer 6P in fire red.

I used some nice vinyl I got at a regular fabric store to recover some boat seats years ago. You may want to try a place like that and see what’s available.

You, sir, need to stop finding ways for me to spend money.

I prefer the understated brake package. Folks that pay attention generally pick up that other things are also amiss. O_o

That's likely what i'll do. It's just the nearest fabric store is out of my way and i'll likely need to make a special trip there. I wanted to keep moving the project along quickly.

I think what i'll need however is foam-backed vinyl, as if i lay a vinyl sheet over the cardboard, any imperfection or slight crease will be visible. I can pronbably get away with it with cloth, but trying to stay somewhat OEM correct, although it really isn't necessary in my case. Nothing stopping me from using cloth really.
