Coworker brought me a present. Clearing out his basement for a move and has no use for this.

Haven’t done much lately. Cars sat. Family and I have been away pretty much every weekend and I haven’t taken my time off work for the car. School is starting soon so I should have more free time.

Last thing to really finish is setting the toe, as it’s a bit out right now.

Anyway, I needed a new set of pillar trim. I put a guage pod on so mine was hacked up. I wanted no guages in the interior. Anyway you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a good drivers side trim. Plenty of pass side, but looks like drivers side in good shape is hard to find.

Finally found a set of 87-89 for a good price.

A little SEM black and ready to install

(Pay no attention to the grass. It’s been a rough summer in terms of rainfall here in MA. Lawns been scorched since June)

Next up is to get the MS3X in. The A9L is just running too darn rich and really needs a tune.

So, gonna wire up the wide bands with some O2 extensions so they are plug and play in the stock harness

Also need to wire in the main harness to an adapter to the factory ECU connector. I just need to sit down with my pinout diagram and go through it. Should all be plug and play and I can slap the A9L and stock O2s back in if ever needed.

No, I have not driven the car yet other than around the block.

Yup. As you can see.

I swapped the new one in. Much better. I’ll hang onto this just in case I do have a need for pillar pods. I’ll just swap this one back in then.

You can also see how 87-89 black trim is really more of a charcoal. Interior looks so much better now that I’ve painted up all the old trim from my original porno red ‘88 interior.

Spending time on the lake with the family all summer is one of the main reasons I don't get much accomplished project wise... but I'm still young enough to enjoy this time with the family on the water, teaching my boys to surf, and NOT worrying about work. It's worth every penny and worth every second I don't spend on projects. Don't let anyone tell you different!

Getting on the water used to take all of my worries away.....

Home. Was a good end of summer trip. Wife and kids start school again next week so finally more free time for me. Back on the car, maybe hit up the range and start working on my saltwater reef tank. Was a busy summer

Ok. So I drove it. A real drive, although couldn’t get to a road with over 35mph speeds yet. Just cruised around the hood a bit.

Still need to adjust my toe

One SS front brake line rubs the tire.

My temp fan controller is unreliable. It defaults to off so one drive was made with the fan completely off. It wasn’t an issue as long as I was moving. I’ll need a better solution until the MS goes in.

It ran better once I had some miles on it. The battery I use is junk (been lazy to go get a new one) so I pull the battery out every time. So every start is a fresh relearn. With miles, it runs better. So I need a battery asap so I can stop that practice.

Interior squeaks and rattles were reduced a lot! I think the biggest source was the hatch and the 92-93 latch fixed that (pulls it tighter). The SFCs helped a ton with body flex and I can feel it for sure. Really I have one source of interior rattle - pass side A-pillar where it meets the headliner. I plan on putting some foam up there to try and reduce that.

Other than that, a nice 2-3 miles of ac on, windows down cruising. Sounds great too.

And yes, it feels like it has power. I just haven’t had a good spot to lay into it.

That's awesome Mike, I'd say get that brake line rub fixed ASAP before it ruins it. As for the battery, why not just leave it on a tender? I do that with all my non-daily stuff like motorcycles, 4 wheelers, boats, etc.

The battery is beyond its time. It leaks acid and the terminals ooze some sort of black goo. Very strange.

Needless to say I just don’t trust it, which is why I remove it each time. I just need to get off my lazy butt and go get a new one and use it as the core.

I have a tender. I’ll use it on the new battery.
