So i installed the bellhousing, was all set to put the trans in. I had two studs with the heads cut off. Plan was to put the trans on the studs and slide the trans in with the wight of it on the studs and a jack.

SOunded good, except the stud was about 1" too short. I went to bolt it in,the trans slipped from the jack and came off the studs

As light as a t-5 is...don't try to catch it

It crushed my finger into the ground. Sliced it open to the bone. Tendons are ok, but i needed stiches and a splint.

I'm pissed because i need the stiches and splint for 6-8 days, and i took all next week off from work to finish the car.

SO now i can't do **** til then

I got blood everywhere. I'm headed outside to wash it off the seats of my G35 right now.

I'll leave this one a link if you wish to see the damage.

It's not too bad here all sewn up, but at the time my finger looked like a bloody sausage!

EDIT: WARNING...you will see some stitches here

Okay, i got back to work today. Wore some heavy gloves on my bad hand but managed to do what I needed.

I found out i had the TOB installed incorrectly. Hmm, guess things happen for a reason because had i not cut my finger i would have slapped the trans in with it installed wrong.

So i fixed it and got the cable run. Clutch feels pretty good!

I also ran the new speedometer cable so that's ready to go.

I also put 8 new spark plugs in, new fresh oil, new oil filter, new PCV and squirted some oil in the cylinders and turned the motor over a few times by hand. Pretty much ready for cranking!

PS: the prob i thought with the starter hitting was a false alarm. With everything bolted up, there is nothing hitting at all when i turn it over by hand

I'm all set to try the trans again. I might get some help tue night. So hopefully i can get to working on putting the rear end in by the end of the week.

Only think i took a pic of today. I figure you guys know what spark plugs looked like

Wasn't that bad. I went and rented a trans jack. Sinc ei couldn't muscle it in on my own, i just inched it into place.

Pretty straightforward.

I have the wrong reverse light harness...more on that later

I even got the exhaust all buttoned up.

Installing a cat-back with no rear end in place is EASY!!

Okay, here's the one prob. Reverse harness is wrong.

I got this harness off a 1985GT. I've got the T-5 from it as well, but i borrowed the reverse light harness. The plug that plugs into the body is different.

Did they change the harness plugs later on? I assume yes?

When was the change? 1986? or 1987?

Looks like I need to find another reverse light harness. Anyone got one??

Yes, i know i could make from my AOD's harness and this one with some splicing, but I'd prefer an OEM harness. However if i need to get the car rolling, i'll just splice the head of the AOD reverse harness to this one so i can get the car running. Anyone know what color wires are the reverse wires?

I put the interior back together. Took the time to loom some of the wiring behind the dash, clean up some custom wiring, fix splices, etc.

Before

After

(that's a weird reflection on the dash pad)

I might be good on the reverse light harness. I forgot I had this. I got it a while back at the boneyard but the head was frayed off so i chucked it at the time.

I can break out my soldering iron and heat shrink and make a good harness and reloom it.

Other work I did:

Bent and flared my driver's side front brake line. Made up some bend bleeding lines for the MC.

Tidy up some underhood wiring for the fan.

I'm almost done pretty much. Just need to install the rear axle, bleed the brake system, install the front sway bar and new tie rod ends and then i can fire the car up and take it for a spin!

So close

I also ordered some interior stuff.

First off the seatbelt plastic. I must have been drunk the night I ordered this stuff. Not only did i order the plastic for a 90-93 Mustang ( i needed 87-89 to recover my OEM red belts)...but i ordered ONE!

SO it's too short and i am 1 short.

I ordered the kick panel hardware kit, and one of the push pins is tan while the other is black. No big deal to dye it, but WTF.

Guess i'll have to rock red seatbelts a little while longer now

BTW, the brake line stuff kicked my ass. I wanted to rebend my axle lines to clear the body bumpers and kinked a line! SO i went to the parts store and bought all new lines and had to fabmy own up. WHat a PITA it looks like trash. Also, i've been practicing my bubble flares and can't get it down right. I need to bubble flare ONE fitting to the right front brake into my SN95 prop valve. All thats holding me up.

PS: anyone want ONE 90-93 seat belt plastic sleeve?

Almost done!

Got the rear axle in. A few odds and ends to take care of. I was gonna put the Aluminum driveshaft in but i realized i needed to adjust the e-brake still and it might be easier to do so with the shaft out.

Now i just need to tidy up my brake lines, bleed the brakes and then i think i'm all set to fire it up!

I siphoned the old gas out. Gotta pick up some fresh gas soon too.

I have a few things i'll be doing on sunday as well

So sexy!
It's a shame nobody will ever see my work.

Well, i put the rear down on wheels today for the first time in 6 years. The springs have been off the car for about a year now, but i hope the car comes down a little more.

This is with the MM adjustable arms set at FULL DOWN. In other words i can't go any lower than this!

I know the ride height looks perfect here, but i was kinda hoping to achieve this in the middle of the adjustment range, and not at the very bottom of it.

But nice to know i can jack up the rear to put taller DR's on it later on. I just hope it settles down a little so i can screw in a little UP adjustment on the arms. I did put brand new POLT spring isolators in the rear, so maybe that has something to do with it. These are ford racing C springs uncut. I know i can cut a half coil off the rears, but was kinda hoping to not have to do that with the MM arms. But then again, i doubt i'd ever want to go any lower than this anyway. Looks perfect to me

PS: the front of the car was still on jackstands...so it looks high in front

Might have to roll the fender lips a bit. With 17x8 SN95 wheels with the SN95 brakes, the fit is perfect IMHO

Of course, i want to put 18x9's on here...so we'll see how that looks.

Taking car of the little things for now.

Front sway bar is back on. Sandblasted it, primed and painted it black. New poly bar bushings and poly endlinks.

Also, put the "good" front rotors on and torqued everything down up front.

Last post for today.

The sway bar with the MM arms hangs a little low. I prob have 3-4 inches of clearance here for the bar and the adjustment screw.

However, it's where the tire is, so if i go over a speedbump i would be fine. I just need to watch out for raised things

PS: you can see the adjustment screw is all the way down

That's it for the weekend. I need to order some stuff and pick up some things for next weekend. If i get a battery, i'll fire the engine up. I haven't put the driveshaft in yet. Still need to adjust the parking brake and i can't really do that til i get the brake system filled and clamp the calipers down all the way. I also need to get diff fluid and fill the rear up.

Major stuff it done...now it's just the little things!.

I need to install the e-brake cable retainers that hold the cable away from the tire.
