It could be space for guages...maybe:shrug:

Well, I already have a few things in mind.

The ford cd player is the same as the one ford used in the 94-00 mustang. They are interchangeable and both will support either a slave cd, or a cd changer.

So, was gonna use the cd player, with the slave cd player and basically have two cd players in the console....or use the tape player in the upper part wih the slave cd player and store the cd player since they are kinda rare.

Or, just use the cd player, stick a cubby in and use an explorer cd changer in the hatch

I think I'm going cd player + slave cd

I'll make a separate thread. Still waiting on a couple parts and gotta pull my pass seat and carpet to run the amp wiring

Here's what my '92 had. Cassette with an EQ and all haha! Wish I still had it. I like the stock plain jane look. My current '93 just has an empty space with nothing in it. Need to work on that! Waiting to see what you do Mike haha.

Ok, so.....A or B?

The mid 90's ford tape and slave CD are directly interchangable with the 1993 amp and wiring. In fact, the mach 460 from 94-00 is nothing special...the propietry stuff is the amps and speakers, otherwise the headunit and slave cd are the same as in a taurus. The ford CD player also have the capability to run a CD changer/slave unit.

Only part i need is the slave cd power cable, but other than that the cd player will work with either setup. From what i've read, the slave cd will read CD-R's much better...especially from a later Mustang. I think the dual CD looks "different", but the tape player would at least offer some variety. If i do go with the tape player, i'll buy one from a later 90's Mustang with the non-protruding eject/rev/forward buttons. My Ipod hookup will be the type that plugs into the rear antenna, so i don't need the tape.

OR....i could put the stock cubby under there and put in an early 90's Ford 10-disk CD changer and mount it in the hatch. Will work with either head unit. I prob won't even use it though

Btw, the spring clip mounts run all the way down the sides, so it looks like ford might of at least considered something like this. Who knows? But the fit is perfectly dead on

(yes, i still haven't painted the sides yet where i filled in the radio holes)

I like it. Stock, yet makes you look twice I think. I've had it hooked up. I'm satisfied with how the sound is. Might just tap a small sub in down the road, but that's up in the air.

I really need to check fit first with the brace on the trans tunner floor. The slave CD is a little shorter, but it still might hit. I've trimmed the lip off the brace and hopefully that gives me enough room.

I also need a way to support the slave unit to the upper radio

If i do use the cassette deck, i would change it out for the later Mach setup. The early setup (pictured above) is fugly.

This deck looks better
100_0284-1.webp

There is also a 3rd style of this deck. All 3 plus the CD player will work with the OEM 1993 amp and wiring setup. Below is the correct 1993 fox deck however. It also came in 94-95 Mustangs and other cars.

1993_00027_06.webp

There are also versions of the two decks with manual rev/for buttons that will work with the 87-92 wiring...if you have one of those years and want a newer looking deck. They won't run the slave cd though. Just the premium decks will.

Reason i want to use the slave cd is because supposedly has much better anti-skip than the Ford CD player.

I kinda would like to use the CD player because it's unique. Don't see too many around. However, the tape deck looks matched up to the slave cd much better. The buttons match and the displays match

Okay, had the decision made for me. Was putting the console back in the car and the lower cd unit just won't fit in. I trimmed the center trans suopport a bit, but the tunnel just comes up at an angle too steeply and there isn't enough room. :(

So looks like 1993 cd player and cubby!

At least the cubby gives a place to put my iPod. I'll use one of those adapters that plugs into the antenna, then dril a small hole in back of cubby and run line through for iPod.

Just to update.

Made a trade with a board member this week. Straight trade for my steeda Tri-ax for his MGW shifter.

Needless to say I am happy. I should have bought this shifter to begin with, but the steeda was a gift and I didn't get to choose.

I just love MGW shifters....this is my 2nd :)

Now the only thing stopping me from reinstalling my A/C is swapping out the old Evap core which is filthy inside. I have a brand new Ford unit....actually...everything i'm reinstalling is brand new Ford! I scored a new Deep Vacuum pump, and have been studying up on A/C to really do this right!

I figure with what i spent on OEM Ford components....i might as well splurge for the good stuff. besides, have you seen what R-134a sells for these days? $15-20 a can! R-12 is not that much more expensive on Ebay.

Decided to just add pics to my thread rather than cloud up other threads. So, after a few years of life on hold, I'm back to toying with the mustang. New house, and finally a garage.

Not much has changed in 5 years. Car is a little dusty, and could use some good cleaning. Only damage from a few years of storage was a heavy item falling and breaking the Saleen spoiler.

So I removed it. Also damaged was the molding on the drivers side rear, so that was removed too. Found a replacement and having it painted along with LX wing.

Secured a nice LX wing, and currently getting it painted up. First shots ever with LX wing in a decade or so

Feels good to have her back. First major project will prob be putting the new ac system back in...along with R-12

Well, never too late to get back into it. Mostly I'm gonna spend the next few weeks cleaning up the car from its short stint of sitting the last 3 years or so. Lots of dust and grime need to be cleaned.

Some of the plastic interior parts seem to have become brittle. My dome light shattered when trying to install an LED bulb.

Added LEDs to the under dash factory courtesy lights (I know, I know)

Going to work on getting the LX wing mounted up as well. Need to get it painted first.

I noticed the engine had a rough idle, so I decided to run codes and do a cylinder balance test. Got all 11s but did get something on cylinder #1 indicating a misfire there. The last time I failed a CBT, I had a dead injector.

So, time to start troubleshooting that.

Oh, got my under hood light working. Last time this worked was 1999ish. :)

And yes, there are actual mods I'm planning on getting to soon. Question is what do I do first?
A/c reinstall with r-12 (all black car no fun to drive in summer heat)
2003 cobra steering rack
Mass air conversion (finally)
TFS stage 1 cam, crane cobra rr's, GT-40Ps

Well I think it makes more sense to do the heads and cam before installing the A/C, but I understand the need for the A/C for summer comfort.

That being said, you will want the mass airflow after installing the heads and cam, so I guess that should come first. Soooo, A/C next summer???

I was thinking the same thing as you. I'd really hate to install the A/C and then have it all in my way as I do H/C. Plus I'm still wrapped up in some home projects (currently have a bedroom torn apart) so I need to focus on most of my free time going to that.

I think I'm going to do the mass air conversion first...with the SN95 cobra rack thrown in as well.

BTW. Tmoss is still porting these right?

Some loose ends I never tied up.

Cobra 17" spare
8748b8fac142ac26fa136519345c0ae9.webp

Had been using a full size 17x8 bullet wheel in my hatch as the spare. Way too big and stuck up in hatch way too much. Finally snagged a 17" spare at a good price off eBay.

Now I can actually put the hatch together the way it should be. There's my rare sunroof storage bag you never see any more

Gonna take my old spare to the local tire shop to dismount the wheel and CL the rim. I really could fit an entire set of wheels in Taurus trunk

Also, as much as I hate LED stuff on older cars, I'm gonna try this out.

Not gonna port the 40ps, just the lower intake.

Why run them? Pretty much because I already have them. To be honest, I have been debating selling them off and getting a better, AL head. Only reason I haven't is simply because the combo gets me around 275-300 crank HP and that's all I really want.

I just want a clean, street able car with just a tad more power than stock. If I start going with AL heads, then I'll end up changing out other parts to match and try and squeeze every bit of HP out of the combo, and it will snowball from there when the T5 can't handle the power and so on. next thing I know, I've soaked $3-5K into a motor.

All I'm gonna do is fire it up on a Sunday AM and cruise down to local coffee shop. At this point I have more investing in restoring the ac system, vs heads. That should tell you what I'm looking for from this car.

Also, I've been reading a number of GT-40P head threads where guys have listed their combo's and dyno sheets. I'm curious to see if I can get some good numbers from a similar setup. I'd be completely happy with 300HP crank. (although that's a high number for 40pS)

For the injector an easy way to test it on the car is with a 9 volt battery and connector with leads. Put the leads to the injector terminal and listen if you hear it click.

Well, reran the CBT and got cyl 1 again. Pulled the spark plug wire and no change. I'm running on 7 cyl.

Tested the injector. 14.4ohms and it clicks when I apply 9V

All I had time for tonight, so will need to pull the spark plug another night.

check the spark plug. could be cracked or broken or fouled

Plug looked fine.

I'm suspecting it's the plug wires. After messing with the plug wire a bit, looks like I got cyl 1 back. Reran the CBT twice and got code 90 meaning all 8 were now firing. Engine ran better too.

Plug wires are FMS wires circa 1998/1999, and looks like I had a mouse chewing on a couple. They will be replaced shortly.

Left work early to chase down that misfire. Since I got it sorted out, broke out the good detailing supplies and really cleaned up the car well. Probably tackle a few minor items (like paint and mount spoiler) before diving into a major project.

I'm liking these cobra wheels again. The tires are old though, dated 2001. Need to decide if I'm gonna put tires on these, or the polished Cobras

Didn't you just take this out of storage? oh wait that was 2009...lol. The car looks just as good today as it did 7 years ago

http://forums.corral.net/forums/wheels-tires/296569-foxbody-wheel-picture-thread-80.html

Yeah. Stored since 2003ish when I bought a 2003 GT. Revived it a bit in 2009 to swap it to a 5spd and do the cobra brake conversion, put 600 miles on it and then stuffed it in a storage unit for 4 more years.
