Since I put all the new parts on, I was able to work my way back to the cabin. Didn’t realize just how bad the passenger side was rusted until part of it came out with the carpet.

You made pretty quick work of that engine compartment, I’m sure that’ll be done in no time!!

Engine and engine compartment are looking good. Fun to see that come together. Bummer on the floor though.
I love garage paint jobs.

Thanks 2blue. I worked on it for a few hours doing miscellaneous stuff. Just an FYI, if you spend 45 minutes and still can’t get your transmission mount in, try flipping it around the right way. Haha. Started tucking the wires on the intake. They hide nicely now with the intake on. Once I get all the wires run, I will wire tape the bundle along the firewall and tuck it under the seam there and above the brake lines now under there. That and a few wire ties will make it disappear pretty good. Finally caught a break after removing the trunk carpeting. Someone already replaced the fuel pump and just cut a square out above it. That will make installing the walbro 255 a breeze.

Some more go fast parts arrived today. New carpet is ready for when I get that passenger floor pan replaced. Hopefully I can get it in this weekend.

One of the things I did today was fit the explorer throttle body with the fox body throttle bar to work. Cheap way to get a 68 mm body and look factory. It seems I’ve misplaced a few odds and ends bolts which slows things down.

Seems like it’s going slow lately. Always looking for a part. Most of the wiring is tucked now. Had to fabricate a throttle and cruise control bracket. Welded in new passenger floor pan section. Still need to put a section in the back of it. What a PITA. The new 130 amp alternator is just sitting there since I can’t find the bolts. Tried to install the remote battery box, but failed miserably. Haha. Soon I’ll be able to fire it up.

Thanks y'all. Rdub I tried to put everything in ziplocs, but some things didn't make it. Jim it saves the hassle later on. I picked up a used one without a pulley assuming I could use my stock one. Nope. It was only around 80 bucks shipped to me. I remember my '79 growing up always struggled to make enough juice. So far today I mounted the battery in the trunk, upgraded the fuel pump to a walbro 255, welded in another patch panel to complete the passenger side floor pan except the seat mount plates that I still have to grind off the old floor pan. Started pulling out the interior so I can fix the rubber seals around the rear quarter glass. I think I will make a video on how to do it, since I couldn't find any info. With the driver's side interior panels out, I can finally begin to route the positive lead to the engine bay.

Nice job man! I like the paint stick idea inside the sandpaper for those tight spots.

I’d say there nothing not to like! (Although that first coat gave you a lot of extra sanding- lol). You’re out there bringing a Fox back to life. I’m sure the pro’s will have some better technical advice, but for a DIY like myself, that video would definitely be helpful!

Thanks! I have been doing autobody for 18 years now. I use very fast drying stuff so every once in a while you end up with a mess. LOL.

I wish I could say that! I’m a few months away (hopefully) of jumping into the welding ring. Had a job 25 years ago where I started to learn, and ended up going a different direction. 20/20 hindsight. I’m hoping the little bit I did do, will help me pick it up quickly! I’m sure to be looking at you tube videos for that!! I give you guys credit who can stop, film, and document along the way!

So much done today. Front bumper reinforcement bar and fog light holder, put bumper cover on so I won’t get fiberglass all over me, most interior panels removed and cleaned, POR15 the exterior of the engine bay, removed all seats, thermostat housing sensor for electric fans, driver’s door removed for painting and hinge replacement, axle pinion seal and I-joints picked up from local parts store (autozone), capped hose barbs, ran pcv, brake booster and valve cover to throttle body hoses, lightened the car (a.k.a vacuumed the car) and some other stuff I just can’t remember right now.
