Well @Davedacarpainter?..You've obsessed over straitening frame rails that nobody will ever see, and now, you're just gonna leave all of that "in your face" stuff all snag-u-lated?

Whadya gonna do about the big assed hole where the A/C lines are sticking through?
Whadya gonna do about the over-bite looking pinch weld that runs along the top?
Whadya gonna do about the frame rail that continues behind the strut tower?
What about all of the holes,....dents and ripples?

STOP HALF STEPPIN DAVE!!!! Either you're smoothing that engine bay or your not.

The answer to that is you can't. No mere mortal can easily make the areas behind the strut towers presentable. That's like areas 51 and 52.

Uhh,...that would be incorrect.

I'm not looking through his massive assed thread, but the other "anal Dave" went as far as building little plates to fill in gaps where the steering column reinforcement was, ground down the pinch weld to a point where there wasn't an overhang,..put caps on the top of the back frame rails....filled in all of the bumps and bruises on the firewall,......Just stupid stuff.....

Aint that right Scott?

@RacEoHolic330 ?

Then,.....there's always this guy..

This proves that even your last edit is wrong.

Just as mortal as you are, but inspired by the God that is raceoholic, I succeeded at copying his work to a 6 on his scale of 10.

And this is before I re-did it.

In the end,...it is. When the engine is out, and you see all of that sheetmetal you think...."Well, I've went this far,...I may as well as...."

Then you put the engine in and it all disappears.

Nah man, you want a pepper of the devil? Try one called a douglah, it's a little brown wrinkled to crap pepper from Trinidad that makes a ghost chili seem like candy.

Oh Wow! That is so nice I think I feel my eyes burning.
I don't have the time for that unfortunately, maybe the next one.
My brother did that to his black '86 and I would say it's of similar quality. Meaning I couldn't do it.
I'll be happy within my limitations though.
Still, WOW, what an engine bay. I like the cowl delete panel as well, really accents the smoothness of the bay.

Big ass hole is gonna have air conditioning lines running into it. It gets hot in Oklahoma.
Dents and ripples? I wanted the holes gone, I kind of like the dents and ripples.
Seriously though, I can control going too nuts on this, I have less than four months for this to be a running car. That's my control net working for me.
It was mainly all of those holes in front of the shock towers that were driving me insane.

btw, scott rod makes panels/patches/covers for those various areas. i've got em all sitting patiently waiting for whenever i decide to work on it (which may not be until i find out how much hassle it will be to sell my house). the (limited) test fits seem to indicate they'd fit well, and for a novice sheet-metal guy like me could be a huge frustration saver.

Ok, let's say I smooth above the seam on the firewall. This is my first edited photo, a little sloppy, but any answer would be appreciated. As far as the seam goes, was there any trouble cutting it back as much as yours.
If I'm going to do this, I have to do it quick, like this weekend. Two weeks till paint.
