I finished taking out the factory seam sealer from around the front foot wells.
Proof of why I need to be doing this, there were several small holes rotted through on the driver's side. The largest was about the size of a quarter, and yet the seam sealer on it looked fine.
I welded those up and cleaned the surface rust in other areas and coated it with POR 15.
It ought to look pretty snazzy when I'm done with the white seam sealer outlining the panels, I forgot who it was that like the black and white theme....someone else with a thread.
Anyhow, pictures.

Looking good man, Por 15 looks good on your fixed up floor lol what kinda sound deadening are you going to use?
I was thinking dynamat, but I'm open to others. My brother works at a hot rod shop and they use some form of air duct insolation/wrap that would need some spray adhesive.
I might end up with dynamat simply because of their reputation.
I won't be putting that in for almost two months, so I have some time to consider it.
I think I like the POR 15 look. I'm using their semigloss. When it dries it looks like fresh e-coat. I was going to spray a little color and clear on the interior, not so sure I'll do that now.
Any suggestions?

take a look at lizard skin- not cheap but you spray it on and it provides better coverage and protection

I was gonna say Lowes sells some stuff (a/c stuff) in 12 or 18 inch wide rolls that a friend said works just like dynamat at a fraction of the cost... But i thought it was peel and stick

I don't know though, It looks like real thin foil bubble wrap to me. My brother's shop is a very reputable hot rod shop and have produced some beautiful rides, I would tend to believe it might work.

This is what I think.
I think it is insulation. It will do what insulation does, that being keep the heat out. What it isn't is a sound deadener. So, while I think it's better than nothing, I don't think it will compare to the typical dynamat wannabes that are all out there.
I used some stuff purchased off of eBay. I believe it was about 100, and covered the firewall, and floor to the start of the trunk.
Tell me about your eBay stuff Mike. Did it work pretty well?
CJ Pony sells a kit for fox bodies that uses dynamat, but it's over six bills. They also just sell a large dynamat kit for mid fours, that's what I was thinking of getting.
Knowing me like I do, I'll probably pony up for the mid fours Dynamat.
I've got to admit, lizard skin sounds pretty interesting as well. The only problem I have with that is that it would require me to take up valuable time once I have the car in the shop repainting the interior when I will need to focus on the engine bay and exterior. That will probably be the decisive factor between dynamat and lizard skin.
Overall though, I think the lizard skin would be better than the dynamat, albeit slightly pricier. I'm not such a picky bitch that the slight difference would be noticeable to me.
Like I mentioned, I have a couple months to think it over. Maybe there is something out there I'm missing.

This thread is pretty nice. Por15 is a great product. I've had good results with rubber roofing material for sound deadener. Just gotta be sure not to cook the car. Its kinda similar in thickness to the stuff the factory used. I've used it on floor pans and trunks. An old Jamaican man showed me about 20 years ago. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I have no idea how heat would affect por15 though. Great job man !
Thanks brother, from what I understand, POR 15 is tougher than nails. Once it's dry, I can do most anything to it including my moderate bake cycles at work(160 degrees).
POR 15 is the chit! Helped a buddy use it on his 66 chevelle almost 10 years ago. It works great. His trunk and floors look exactly the same after 10 years. It sees probably 1k street miles and 100 1/4 mile passes a year. 9 sec car and even with all the torque/abuse there is no cracks no rust etc. highly recommend the product.
