Build Thread My 1986 T-top Build - Lasting Memories

I originally narrowed the rear end without thought to tubbing. I wanted deep dish style wheels because I like that look. It is narrowed, already have strange axles narrowed and everything.
I even added the brackets for coilovers just in case I was crazy later on.
So, rearend is done, mini tubbing just makes it more interesting.
I didn't realize the aspect of it. It took a lot of hacking for them damn things

Yes it does, luckily I have a brother that can weld like a genius. Unlike my own feeble attempts!
Are you on your own doing this? Or lucky like me to have an older brother that has a brain. Lol. We welded the tubes as well, good insurance.

I have a guy that's helping me do everything! I'm learning a lot of this stuff as I go! This man that's doing all the welding and stuff has a nasty hatch car that will run mid 4's on 275 radial. He knows his stuff! He will be the one tuning all my suspension and control arms. He's shown me so much I'm very greatful he's helping me. Plus it makes it go faster!

Ahhh. I must have missed the fact you shortened the rear. I kind of pushed the cart before the horse and went big under the delusion that just because you could do it meant that you should.

Dunno how I missed this thread before, but it makes me wish I had gone with the Scott rod panels instead of the lmr ones.
They are super nice man. Lucky I slipped and bent the driver's side one in the upper front corner. So I need to do a little bodywork there.
My wife is on a holy terror about cleaning the house today, so I haven't had a real chance to do much.
Where in the hell are her priorities?

I've been remodeling kitchen all weekend:(
Girlfriend does need some upgraded space to make my dinner though:nice: she's moving in...(unfortunately?) and thankfully doesn't pay attention to my "Stangnet-Facebook thing"---that's how she describes it lol.

I don't really understand the whole "build" vs "progress" thread. Maybe when I have the motor in it and it runs, the powers that be can change it to a build thread. For now it can be called a "whatever" thread.
God knows they have the ability to put a ct on you when you say something stupid!
No,....If you keep on building the car via a whole bunch of separate specialized "whatever it is threads," the car will be done, and there'll be nothing left to build.

Look at it this way.......

If an author intended to write a book, but went to the publisher with several assorted "chapters", as opposed to one single manuscript.......He'd get one of two responses from the publisher.
1. We can make these into a bunch of short stories.
2. Turn around and put all of that crap back together into one, consolidated read, and we'll sell it as a .............book.

I don't care how you want to do it, you can document the build the car either way. Most guys prefer having to only watch and maintain one update on their "stangnet-facebook" thing instead of a dozen, spread out over a dozen separate threads.

The build/progress thing is simple.
If you are doing it, and it involves more than just bolting parts together.....I'm more inclined to label it "build".
If you are either bolting stuff together, or paying a shop to do what you can't or won't do (for whatever lame-o reason) It gets the "progress" title instead.
Either way,...you gotta care enough to ask for it. If you do all the damn work yourself, and could give a rat's ass what it's called,....then it'll stay a progress thread just the same.

You've got it down to a separate minitub, and a "all the rest" thing I think. When, and if you decide you want me to park all of that junk in the same garage,.....you just let me know, and I'll merge it all under one thread title.

Honestly mike, call it a build thread if you like or don't. If it helps someone else to understand it better with that label, then cool beans.
I started a separate thread to learn about the mini-tubbing. I will document the progress of the actual mini-tubbing in my progress (build) thread.
I didn't want to clutter the main thread with extraneous ramblings.
If you would rather I put all info into one thread, I can do that as well.
Like I've told you before, I'm new at this forum stuff and if I make some sort of breach that upsets you, crap mike, that's life. I wasn't trying to. I wanted to focus on an area that I have limited knowledge.
So should I continue all in one thread then?
Is that the way it's done? I'm easy mike, relax a little.
If that's the way it's done, then please do put it in my progress thread.
If it's better to be called a build thread, then help me out here Mike, change it to a build thread.
I'm not trying to belittle the forum's procedures. I just don't know all of them yet. Give me a break, I'll learn.

So, today, marvelous Monday. I painted the brake booster the same color as the stripe on the hood. Kind of cool looking to me. You can see the pearlescent sheen in it if you look close.
I think I will be doing this to other things in the engine bay, maybe disassemble the alternator and paint the body?
