It looks good and I like your combo. With my 393, it's a D4351w .040. I'm using Canfield heads, Canton 7qrt., 1.6 rollers, 585/612 lift roller cam, Weiand Stealth intake, when I buy my carb. I'm going with a 750cfm. It has a cast steel 3.85 crank an sfi balancer and steel flywheel.

it was one thing after another with that girdle, lemme tell ya. first it wouldnt clear my main caps, then the pickup tube wouldnt line up with the oil pump, the bottom hole lined up dead on but the top hole was about 3/8's too far to the left, then after i got that heated up and twisted to line up the tab on the tube wouldnt line up with the main cap stud so i had to heat it up and move it, then after that i measured the height of the pickup to make sure it wasnt going to be too tall for the pan and it was actually the opposite, because of all the bending and twisting i had to do it was about an inch and a half from the bottom of the pan so i heated it up and got it at a 1/4 inch now. then after all that was said and done i put the pan on and it hit on the outter side next to the oil pump where the girdle shoots out to clear the pump, so i took about 3/16's off till she finally cleared. that doesnt include notching and massaging the oil pump but thats a given. its a 7qt pan i got from the mustang depot.

GSP393 - that sounds like its gonna be pretty sweet, let me know when you get it goin, im diein to feel the torque of mine but im still waitin on my injectors which sucks cause they are the last piece to my puzzle.

2002BLGT - it was a hard decision for me to choose between the 393 and the 408 but im on a huge budget right now so i went with the 393 this time, im gonna try her out and see how i like it and if i ever want to go with a complete forged bottom end then im gonna go 408, might as well right, no replacement for dispacement, with my current bore and 408 crank ill be at 414 cubic inchs, o yea!

2002BLGT - i just thought about something i just wrote about saving money by going with the 393, i was 100% sure i was gonna save money by going with the 393 since i had really good rods as far as stockers go but then i screwed myself cause i figured well i saved some cash by not having to buy rods so then like a true gearhead i just spent that money on some better pistons, pretty sweet huh?

heres how i financed my build, i sold my other baby....

thanks, it was either sell the stang and build the stroker for my truck and put 1 ton axles in it or sell the truck and build the stroker for the stang. needless to say the stang won, i was always to afraid to really wheel much with the truck because i didnt ever want to mess it up, so i passed it on to someone else. too many toys and not enough money

The 393 can make big power, don't worry about not going 408. My dad has a 393 he doesn't rev over 6500 RPM, and although not a street motor it runs strong (9.96 @ 136 on motor alone).

my god are you serious? i was running a 13.78 with my 302/aod set up, running nothing but bolt on's and some nitrious. what sucked with that set up is i was on the rev limiter before the end of the track so i needed to swap my gears or go with a bigger tire. they closed down my local track (lacr) so after they did that i said screw it go big or go home.

i was hoping for a low to mid second car with my current set up, its fairly mild with the f cam and performer intake, i figure my compression is somewhere in the neighborhood of 9.5-9.8.

with this set up im lookin for power yet extreme dependability and hopin it will pass smog but that might be askin too much.

im running a full weight gt fox, still running the ac (it works and is still r-12), stock a arms, k member, sway bar, all stock interior. running eibach drag springs, 70/30 lakewoods in the front, 50/50's in the rear, granatelli adjustable lower control arms, bbk solid uppers, 4.10 gears.

is my low 12 second goal reachable with this set up or do you think it will be more of a high 12 second car?

Well bud I ran a 12.24 with my 331 '86. Only suspension upgrades were moroso rear drag springs, lakewood 70/30's, eibach 1.5" springs up front, stock control arms, 3.73, stock a-arms/kmember, flaming river mnanual rack. With arebuild of my t-5, some more practice launching etc. etc. I know I could hit high 11's with this set-up!!! I recently bolted on a paxton 1220SL but haven't even started the car yet because it's so damn cold here!

By the way looks killer! Juts waiting for those damn injectors.................

Oh I just realized I had (HAD) the same valve covers. Are you throwing in a breather or two? make sure you make them baffled. I used a comp cams breather neck which was not baffled. The breather got constantly saturated with oil until I finally made a baffle. Not a good thing to have oil burn on your headers...............nice way to burn down your car!

ya waitin on the injectors sucks, im absoultely dieing to hear it run let alone drive it. ill keep that in mind on the valve cover breathers, im probably going to plug the drivers side and the passenger side im trying to figure out how to run something like the stock valve covers had with the neck and the hose running up to the throttle body.

from what it sounds you are saying low 12s is definately achieveable with my set up, my god that would be sweet if i could get it in the 11's, some dude i used to work with was a "one upper" type of guy and was always trying to out do anything anyone had. no matter what it was he was always better, know what i mean? anyhow i told him about wanting to buid this engine and i told him i was hoping it would be a low 12 second car and it would be sweet if i could dip in the 11's so naturally if my car could achieve that et it would destroy anything he had so he starts running his mouth about how theres no way ill ever get into the 11's with a full weight car running ac, smog pump, etc. if i achieve it i think im gonna have to mail him my time slip

I would think for sure that you'd hit low 12's depending on your driving etc etc. I'm sure others can pitch in their opinion.

The valve covers look exactly like the ones I just sold. They didn't come with holes, I had to make them. Do your's have them? And are these the tall ones? Becareful where you put the holes as you are going efi and there is things like the throttle cable bracket, upper intake, cold air piping that can and will dictate where you put the hole. If you aren't running a breather and want the oil filler like stock, Trick Flow sells a kit for around 30 - 40US I believe.

I can't remeber reading it but are you running an intake spacer? If these are the tall ones you'll probably need one. I had to run a 1" phenolic spacer for my Edelbrock Performer II.

i bought them off ebay from a guy in north carolina for about 40 bucks shipped, thought it was a pretty good deal since there was no way my stockers were gonna work, they already had the holes in them when they arived, whoever cut the holes out looks like they did a pretty good job, its not all hacked up or anything, so far everything looks like it clears, ill check and see if i might need that spacer, i never even thought about it until you just mentioned it, i never test fitted the upper to see. ill definately look into that trick flow filler neck, technically doesnt the stock filler neck also act as a breather since it has that hose that runs to the throttle body?
