In my head, the car is done. (My head obviously doesn't know what my body does)

So I start thinking about what I want to do to the engine (Besides leave it alone)

This is what I don't want:

I don't want to do anything to adversely affect driveability.

I do not want to open the short block to add forged internals.

I do not want to do anything that causes the engine to run hotter.

So you're thinking leave it alone then right?
I really like the look of a cool induction system. The complexity of the thing intrigues me.

A single carb covered by a 14" aircleaner will only go so far for me, as for wow factor after opening the hood....it gets a 1 on a scale of 10.

The first thing I've considered is adding a fogger nitrous system. It's got all kind of "whoa!", and I can set it to a modest "stun," and not have to do a damn thing else to raise my open hood wow factor or (OHWF) to at least a 5.
At the same time, I will add 75-100 HP to the mix w/o compromising engine survivability.

The other thing I've considered is to modify my existing intake to allow me to run multiple carbs (three two barrels is the objective) a "six pack" in other words. OHWF should be like a 5 again I'd think.
Obviously, No HP improvement, but no worries about engine durability either.

Or I could also add the fogger to that, and get the 5 for the six pack, and the 5 for the fogger,...TEN!

The last, is really where I'm going I think. Since a 4.6 has a flat, horizontal head to intake mating surface, I'm also considering replacing that intake completely w/ a 1/4" aluminum plate and running 8 1bbl carbs sitting on little pedestals. That'd be one each per port. Gotta find a carb rated at 100 CFM or less that doesn't look like ass and small enough to sit in front of each other.

This should put the OHWF at a 10 I think.

I'll even consider the 8 port thing as a throttle body/injected thing since I have a MegaSquirt built and sitting waiting for an engine to control.
I also don't know where I'd get 8 little throttle bodies that won't cost a bazillion ba buck bahs. This will probably get killed off when I start to consider the fuel system. I currently have a carb pump, and no return line.

Whatever I do, I'm gonna do it myself, for the same reason I built the rest of the car myself. Because I can.
(Well, the fact that I'm cheap is also part of it)

If I put this out there and only two people reply or if somebody asks for a freakin cliff note, I'm gonna stop talking to you guys, and go trade the car in on a Subaru.

So is forced induction out of the question? A turbo is a great driveability mod so long as you dont sqwarsh the throttle all the time. The ba buck bahs will be low if you go with a generic kit and make your own hot and cold side pipes and can weld a four bolt on the current headers. Or, get a subaru. I like the Brat but the update Baja is kinda sweet too.

A multi-TB setup would be freaking awesome. Even if you just did 4 (one for every 2 ports) it would still look really cool. I've actually thought about this before, and it seems like you could source stock throttle bodies off of 4-banger JY motors. Like, maybe you could find 4 Ford Probes in the JY, yank the TBs, and then you'd have 4 matching TBs for cheap. Figure out how to wire in their TPS into your megasquirt and you're good to go. Maybe polish them up, and everybody would think you've got a $10,000 EFI system.

Moving on from the intake stuff, have you thought about going to an aftermarket cylinder head? These days, you have quite a bit of options to make a screamer out of your 4.6L 2-valve. I've seen some good numbers from those new Trick Flow heads...

The JY throttle body thing is a good idea. either a bunch of 4 cyl TB's or 4 of the dual TB's from.. what is it the truck 351w???. Maybe able to sync all of them together, and send signal to the ECU from only one of them?
I already have an innovate W/B, so all I need is a Fuel pump, regulator, and a return line. Plus a few of the necessary sensors .......Hmmmmm

The heads are always in the plan. I didn't think to ask because to me it's a no-brainer. You have to add them sooner or later, because the stock ones are so bad. The other reason for an induction before head thing, is that cams go hand-in-hand w/ the heads, and stock P to V is non-existent. At the very least, after adding heads and cams, I'd have to add clearance to the piston for the intake valve. That kind-of goes against me not wanting to mess with the bottom end. Besides, It just didn't serve the purpose of the thread, as they add nothing to the OHWF.

Heat! Don't....... want............heat.

Besides, I'd have to change the carb to a blow thru (I can hear the groans now) or change the whole damn thing over to FI
And I've had a few turbo systems already.

It's impossible NOT to sqwarsh the throttle.

No! Said the finger!

I was getting excited as I've been watching your thread daily then a mention of a carb surfaced then I stopped reading the rest of the thread. Not sure if you're really going that route but just the word "carb" and my head goes blank. I won't click on a carb thread ever. Love the fuel injection induction on Mustangs especially 86-95.

So then,....you only made it to the first paragraph on the build thread?

There has been a carb on this car since day one. There was a carb, even before the K member work was done to get the goofy 4.6 to even sit in the car. What do you think is sitting under that big-assed air cleaner in the engine pics? Don't know how many days you've been watching the build thread but every day you "clicked" on it, there's been a carb there.

Nanny, Nanny, Boo-Boo!

Just kidding.

Weld the hood to the fenders and then make a hinge systems that raises everything forwards or backwards (think late 80's early 90's vettes) then bling out the engine. I'm still down with the Brat.

If it's there I can't see it, my eyes don't allow it. I can only see all that body work.

Jeez, EFI snob up in the house! I don't mind the carb, it kind of goes with the theme of the rest of the car.

I like the idea of the 4 double throttle bodies from a 351 and linking them so you only need 1 TPS. Then you could put injectors in the home made intake like the the red turbo monster (just not as big or as many). Then you could also make a plenum to go on top and rear mount a turbo. I happen to know a guy who is doing that lol. keep the boost at say 5 psi & you wont have to worry about to much heat (rear mount/meth injection) or pushing to much to the stock engine (low boost)

Don't tempt me. Remember I'm the guy that puts Ford engines in Japanese cars.

I seriously looked long and hard at the Subaru XT as a potential Ford motored Drag car. I just couldn't make The engine fit no matter how I measured the thing. It would've sat so far above the hood line, a PRO MOD would've looked mundane next to it.

P.S. Cars all painted. Just got the call from the painter. Gotta go lay out the red band that goes across the front of the hood at 10 tomorrow. I get it tomorrow night. anic:

Considsiering your past exploits, buy a small jet engine, (J-69) and use the excess bleed air from the compressor section to supercharge the engine. You' need a monster intercooler to drop the bleed air temp down to a reasonable figure.

‪J-69 Turbojet Engine Startup‬‏ - YouTube

That will be about a 100, since the J-69 will make thrust to propell the car and the sound will chase off every dog in a 3 mile radius...

Weber stacks are cool, but if you truly want to stick with the muscle car theme and still be different, why not a cross ram? Should be able to make one that will fit under the hood...

Edit: I prefer tunnel rams for wow factor but I know you're partial to you hood!

Where did you find a cross ram for a 302? I didn't know one was ever made.

Then I'd need a sidekick to utter:

"Atomic batteries to power,....Turbines to speed!"

To which I'd reply:

"Roger! Ready to move out!"

And go Ragin' outta my Bat Cave.

You're right, that thing is cool as hell and the sound is priceless!
Intercooler hell! I'd just duct the thrust out the tail for propulsion and use a reverser for slowing down. (hope nobody is either side of me when that baby whips out and starts forcing thrust at 45% forward angles off the tail).:stig:

I might even have to post a sound clip of my new exhaust if I had THAT.

I don't know who owns it, but they sure are proud of it.
